Matchmaking isn't broken, it is non-existent
If broken is you dropped an iPhone without a case off the 10th floor onto concrete and the screen was smashed, and you could only see garbled colors on the screen, then the matchmaking in League of Legends is you took that same iPhone and shot it into the center of the sun at the speed of light. Like, completely vaporized non-existent.
I only play this game because my friend likes it and I seriously try, but it is impossible to learn anything by getting completely curb-stomped by players who have put 10000+ hours in.
"Oh, you were standing one pixel too close to your enemy? Here, take a demoralizing 'pound-me-in-the-ass prison' beating for the next 20 min."
"Oh, you miss-timed one of your skills by 1/4 of a second early game? Too bad... kiss another 30 min of your life goodbye"
I thought maybe my MMR is too high from playing with friend (who is silver), so I decided to really try to learn this game and play solo normals, and still getting matched up with really experienced people. I don't know how many PVP games I've played, but I can only recall ONE time I've played and thought that I was evenly matched with the person in my lane.
So I thought maybe if I play ranked, I'll get put where I belong ( I assume this is low iron ) and can finally just start to work on fundamentals instead of hiding under turret every game.

What rank did I get after that? Bronze 1
First ranked game I played after that, get matched up against a Silver 1 player, again.
Right.
I can deal with all the things I don't like about the game individually:
- The snowballing is ridiculous
- The toxicity of the playerbase
- the bugs ( black screen after champ select )
- getting matched against players who play every day for hours for the past 5 years
but I cannot justify spending anymore time in a game with all of these downsides. I just can't.
