It would throw volcanic ash into the atmosphere which would cool the entire planet and the oceans by 3 degrees celsius, creating what's known as a volcanic winter effect. it's happened a number of times in human history, and the Yellowstone has actually erupted twice before causing this effect.

All part of the cycle. It would be nice if mother nature could hold off until humanity could overcome these types of situations though. I've seen estimates pegging us at Type I on the Kardashev scale by 2150. Our descendants will likely be able to handle or mitigate the effects of a supervolcano's lasting gifts, if not outright avoid their eruptions.
