A proposed rework to Mastery rank 6 and 7 upgrades and giving players an incentive to play better

With the preseason change to BE, it doesn't seem worth to spend 3250 BE and 3900 BE on the mastery upgrades if you don't have BE lying around. Due to this, I've come up with a system that changes how in-game performance rank awards the tokens and how they're used.
Currently, when you play well, you receive a mastery token based on what your mastery is (rank 6 tokens when you're 5, rank 7 tokens when you're mastery 6). I suggest a change to this, rather than receiving a mastery rank bound token, make it champion bound in-game performance tokens. Here's a mock-up: https://imgur.com/8YtoSkB .
These tokens can either be exchanged for champion mastery points or BE.
Currently you need either 2 rank 6 tokens (and champion shard/permanent or BE) to upgrade from mastery rank 5. With my proposed rework, you'd need to use up tokens you get from playing on mastery points. This eliminates the upgrade cost because by using up tokens for mastery points, you give up the possible blue essence.
This system requires an implementation of point thresholds - amount of points required to be able to upgrade your rank. I'd say S- tokens award either 150 mastery points or 50 BE, S tokens award 250 mastery points or 100 BE and S+ tokens award 500 mastery points or 250 BE. All these numbers are subject to change. Point threshold to upgrade from mastery 5 to mastery 6 (with the numbers above) would be about 1000 points. Threshold for upgrade from 6 to 7 would be about 1500 points. For mastery upgrade from 5 to 6 you can use all types of tokens and for upgrade from 6 to 7 you can use S and S+ tokens. This allows implementation of mastery rank 8 which can only be achieved with S+ tokens. I've estimated the point threshold to be at 2500 (5 S+ games).
You can only receive the tokens on champions that you have reached level 5 mastery on, not before, and you'll continue to receive them after your mastery is maxed out. These tokens can only be exchanged for BE.
The system provides incentive to players to keep playing the champion they have mastered as they are rewarded for good games with blue essence.
