Lp system

I recently won a game and I only gained 10 lp, before that game I was getting consistently 20+ lp then I suddenly got 10 and was 7 lp away from my promos. Two of my other teammates also got 10 lp and 9 lp, is it supposed to be this way or did something happen when I was away?

Same happened to me, and then i lost the next game and lost 18lp... like wtf riot.
