Do you think Riot will ever stop making new champions?

I just watched the new dev video, and that thought just popped into my head. I can see this game remaining relevant for several more years to come, as long as Riot doesn't majorly screw anything up. What I can't see is the roster reaching 200 champs. It seems like at some point, they'll have to say, "Alright, that's enough champs for one lifetime". What are your thoughts?

Sadly on a game with champions and at this point the only way to keep the game from being stale is add ing more champions. They did say they would slow it down a bit but we are already getting a jungler in summer.

I don't think adding new champs is the only way to prevent the game from getting stale. They could add new items, or new effects to older items. Heck, they could add new game modes or maps (I remember talk of a lava map a few years ago).

The problem is that the more champions riot adds. The harder it becomes for new players to get into the game.

Riot won't outright remove champions, so we'll probably get more reworks as time goes on. This way the game can be refreshed without adding new champions to the game

No. Champions are probably what make up a majority of their sales on League of Legends.

New accounts. New players. Smurfs. Players with disposable income. Are likely to buy the new champion.

Players have an idea that Riot favors certain champs and therefore frequently release a new skin for them. However, that's not a sustainable method of earning money, simply because having so much favor towards a champ to release new skins for them would deter other players from playing, simply beause their champs aren't being picked for skins as often. So why bother playing the game hoping your favorite champ, who is also least popular, will ever get a skin?

So to combat that inherent need for Riot to skin Lux and Jinx for the 20th time, they release a new champion hoping they can populate a big fanbase that rivals the likes of Yasuo and Akali. That way Riot can have more low effort scapegoat champs to cash new skins on.

Personally, I find it rather atrocious that we're still continuing to get new champions [insert old champs needing reworks rant here].

  1. How's the average player supposed to keep up with this shit?
  2. A lot of these new champs are as low effort in production as a lot of the 1350 RP skins are. (Qiyana, Sylas, Neeko, Camille, Kled, Taliyah, Aurelion Sol, Illaoi) Just felt really underwhelming in either their kit or their lore + teaser on release.

Aurelion Sol is the dragon we wanted thats for sure. Came out different than what was planned.

Hold off on the champs for a few months to fix bugs, fix client and FFS add some game modes, can't expect customers to not burn out with just SR and Aram.

Get a clue Riot.

I remember an year or 2 ago people were bitching about lack of new champs with everything being reworked champs and Riot trying to rework summoners rift with dragons/plants/etc. Oh have the times are changing. I think its fine. I just wish they remove the rng dragons. god damn I can't stand that shit.

I hate plants but man are the dragons are op af if they stack up. Then there are some games where you don't got a single tank on your team and you get every dragon and they just mountains. Im like wow thanks a lot such worth.
