I watched to the end... and he says he thought it would take strategy? What on earth would make him think that? He's locked into using a single fixed pokemon per battle with 5 PP on each move, and he denied himself the option of using items. When you restrict your options so severely, there is no longer any strategy to be had; it's just brute force. If he'd allowed himself to use stat boosting items or something (X Special, X Defend, etc), rather than saying no items at all, there might be strategic options there, but with that rule set, there's really not a whole lot to do except throw yourself at the RNG.
