Why do League ads only appear on League videos on Youtube?

These ads are really good, and I actually watch some of them (any other ad I skip at 5). But I only see them when I'm about to watch a League video on a channel that's based on LoL. Does anyone know if the ads are actually going anywhere? It doesn't make much sense to be advertising something to someone who already uses it.

There's a tweet about targeted ads that I've heard quoted:

"Amazon, I bought a toilet seat because I needed a toilet seat, not because I've got a fetish for them. I don't need any more toilet seats! Enough with the ads!"

There's a point which targeted ads just don't put 2 and 2 together.
