The ToS says they can ban you for any reason or without reason.

This is a little too vague to be fair to players, as it simply gives them the power to ban you without having to explain to you what the rules actually are. And aside from scripting or leaving games, the infractions that can be done by a player are completely subjective.

On the flip side of that, this effectively removes any argument you'd have as to whether or not a ban was legitimate. All bans are legitimate because you agreed that they do not need you to break their vague rules in order to ban you. So good luck repealing bans on the grounds that you didn't break any explicit rules, because all but two of the rules are implicit.

That is in the ToS to avoid legal trouble. No one can sue them for a ban because of it. It is also in the ToS that you dont own any content on your account for a similar reason. I doubt they would ban for no reason and almost every ban I've seen has been justified in some way.

Yeah and then they still point out all the reasons you got banned

This is pretty common for companys to keep all rights and reserve them for unexpected cases. League isnt alone with something likes this.

I think that's the idea, that you don't get to argue the point. The rules are pretty clear and straightforward, and simply not being a dick should be enough to never get punished. I've never seen somebody get an unwarranted ban.

The rule is pretty clear to me.

"We can ban you for any reason, such as you're behaving like a saint." "We can ban you for no reason, like our random account selector randomly picking your account and 4 others to be permabanned once a week."
