That's his trade off for having a bad lanning phase. Also for your team being all ad

malphite's laning phase isn't bad. it's average, and he can hold his own vs most of the toplane melee roster. E + Q + walk away is usually a good trade for a malphite.
his lane phase is only really bad against ranged cancer, but I guess ranged cancer is prevalent so it doesnt mean much these days to be able to hold off melee opponents.
