I understand why Riot punishes for "calling for reports" regardless of justification.

It's because it's designed to start a witch hunt.

Calling for them won't make anyone play better and actually makes them even less likely to cooperate. And it's clearly done in the nature of open hostility.

These two reasons are why it's against the summoner's code, thus a punishable offense.

I recently came across a player who insisted that calling for reports can't be punished because it wasn't in the report policy. Took me two seconds of thinking about it to understand why it's a punishable offense even if the reports called for are justified.

A couple of months ago in an Ask Riot or something, they specifically said that they don't punish for people saying "report PLAYER for XX." The reason people who call for reports probably get punished is not for that, but probably for the flaming and harassment they did prior to that. I've noticed that typically, the players who adamantly call for reporting other players are aggressive, selfish, and overall toxic themselves because a player didn't do what they wanted or told them to do.

For instance, I recently went MF support. I was flamed in pregame, and my team flamed me once the game began and immediately called for the enemy to report me. I muted them and reported them after the fact.

I don't usually call for reports in all chat unless it's an AFK, or more rarely, an obvious inter, and I only do so once at the end of the game - mostly as a reminder for others. Sometimes I'll also all chat it for toxic assholes, but they've gotta be pretty bad.

If others are calling for a report... I don't report players for feeding, anyway, unless it was obviously intentional (which I can see, even as an enemy). And if it's someone being an asshole, they'll probably continue being an asshole in post-game chat, so I get my evidence right there. Post-game lobby is honestly the best place to ask for a report of a toxic asshole, since they will almost invariably continue their toxicity there. They just can't help themselves.

As for whether or not calling for a report is punishable behavior... I've never had so much as a chat restrict, so I've gotta be doing something right.

Early/Mid game I can see you being right, end of game I see they tried cooperating and simply wanted it know.

When was the "Report Player" call made?

100% agree unless it's something like visibly to the enemy team.

When the enemy team calls for a report, unless is something really clear like the player is AFK or 1000% trolling then ill do it. But if its something like " he is being mean" or "accepted to misplay there to make me lose" i won't do it.

When is in my team i clear know if its worth a report or not, won't listen to someone else bitching.

Now I can understand it once. Saying it once at the end of the game in lobby is fine in my mind. Saying it during game in all chat and keeping it up is basically just trying to start a witch hunt. Maybe someone on the enemy team isn't aware X was toxic and it is just a way to increase their awareness to actually punish a player.

I think asking the opposing team to report someone on your team is stupid if they said nothing in all chat

When I ask people to report someone, it typically doesn't matter how well or bad they are playing, and I am doing so because I am positive that the person in question is someone that most people would not enjoy playing with. They sometimes even prove that last point when I get to play a match against them next game and they grief their team in that one as well. (ty for giving me my elo back merciful disco nunu)

Most of the time the players have outright shown that they refuse to cooperate by that point anyway.

On the other hand, whenever I see someone on the enemy team ask for x person to be reported, and when someone asks them why, their answer is because they are playing poorly, I usually report the person who asked for the report.
