The client is absolutely abysmal

I know it's been said, many, many times before, but evidently no one at Riot actually thinks it's a big deal. I guess I'm just hoping that if enough people bring it up maybe, MAYBE, someday, someone at riot will realize how the client is so buggy, so unfinished, so unrefined, so clunky, so bogged down, such an absolute steaming shite-heap, that it LITERALLY makes players not play the game.

I cannot tell you how many times I've thought to myself "I would enjoy some league right now, but I'm not in the mood to try to wade through the land fill that is the client."

Sometimes the client load up fine, sometimes I have to click it, wait a bit, open task manager, end the task, and click it again. usually several times before it actually opens.

Clicking between anything (Shop, loot, runes, icons, lobby, all of it) takes a minimum of 5-7 seconds to load, and that's often only after having to click something else first, wait for that not to load, then click the one that you actually want.

25% of the time in queue, the game won't show you when you've got a match, you'll be sitting there, waiting, then suddenly you are not longer in queue, and you're on a wait timer because you "declined" the last match.

The CLIENT not the game, takes anywhere between 10%-55% of my CPU, I have an Intel i7, 7th Gen, and 12 GB of ram. how is it in any way feasible that the CLIENT for a game that take 5%-20% of my CPU takes sometimes more than double that?

Riot, we love the game, and we deal with sometimes toxic community. but the client is making it hard for us to LITERALLY get into the game. It's like you put measures in place so that only people who want to have a 10 minute fight with their computer can start searching in queue.

Somehow you have update after update, new champions and game modes, items, runes, skins, animated short films, new champion bios, reworks, but you can't find the time to fix something that you have somehow been steadily making worse each patch, and just ignoring everyone trying to tell you about it?

I would rather NOT have another new game-mode, champion, skin, rune, update, patch, ANYTHING, for another 6-8 months, if you could just get this sorry excuse for a client dealt with, please.

As someone studying software development, I find the client offensive. It's so badly made, floats so much RAM for no reason, keeps crashing/breaking, now the home page lags because of how much garbage is on it (no it's not my computer being bad, it legitimately takes 2-3 seconds to notice im hovering over someone unless I move to my profile page)

The client is an embarassment for a company as large as Riot

Please bring back the Legacy Client.

Riot hasn't even bothered updating the Practice Tool for two years now, which was the main reason we switched Client in the first place.

Sometimes my Collections tab won't load properly, but that's really the only issues I have had so far.

I will say this, as someone who is new to the game (and really enjoying it thus far), the client is what kept me from sticking with it the few times I downloaded the game in that past.

I don't mind how it looks/navigates now, but it came off as really old and dated to someone who was dipping their toe in and out of the game.

I am sure I wasn't the only one.

Just had to restart client so the Missions would have the decency to show up despite the fact it was already showing 3 new missions. Then headed to the Ranked tab only to figure out that the "Queue Up" button is there just as decoration.

Luckily didn't need to check anything in my loot tab or I'd have to re-tab even more because sometime the loot decides not to show up... Which has been lasting for months now.

But then I remember this is just small indie company that doesn't use cash grabs like recolored golden editions or passes where you buy your right to grind so it's all okay.

I have a very solidly specced computer and I run the client in low spec mode in order to make it run decently without serious lag.

The old client was actually better than the new client. Nothing but black boxes everywhere ever since they updated the client. Sent in a bug report when it was back in Beta and it never got fixed. It's just what it does and you have to live with it if you want to play the game.

Some of this sounds like internet issues, but I agree the client is absolute trash. My favorite is when i swap my runes or summs within the last 5 seconds of champion select and i get the "error saving your runes" or "error swapping summoner spells" so I have to play an entire match as Kleptomancy TP Yasuo because I had considered playing GP.

every time for me. And more than half the time I have to patch even though there is nothing to patch. I'd say more than half the time I feel like playing I don't any more, bc i don't wanna deal with the client.

and the more time that passes in general with not playing, the more idgaf about playing whatsoever. lol. Funny how their shitty client causing me to quit more than the shitty game but it's good, I have much more time for important things now 8-)

let me add that over the past year or so , the client takes up so much memory. I have a shitty computer, but I used to be able to run league, browser, and discord. Within a year's time, now if i open just discord and league the game freezes and crashes. My comp didn't degrade that much within a year bc nothing else I run has changed like this.

HERE IS HOW TO FIX THE CLIENT

The client is so bad I have called my credit card company and charged back every cent I've ever given Riot.

The only way I can think to get Riot to pay attention is to ask for a refund. If the client doesn't work, and it really doesn't work, they haven't provided the services as advertised. My client won't even load 50% of the time. If it does load, I can only connect to maybe 70% of games.

This is certainly a sloppy coding issue, with no proper excuse. I've been playing since 2011. I've used terrible rigs and great rigs. Terrible internet and great internet. The current issues with the client aren't set-up related, they are definitely on Riot's end.

The client has made me dodge in ranked many times. Just bring the old client back until this buggy piece of shit is fixed! Don't try to fix what isn't broken!

Try running the client in compatibility mode. you can access that by right clicking the icon, going into properties, compatibility mode then setting it up to a different OS. like win7 item 4204

Since every1 are sharing their stories about client issue, I'll share mine aswell:

At the start of the season my runes were broken, I basically werent able to take my custom rune pages (and I have 7 of them) except the default ones (which are trash btw), and i wasnt able to create new ones aswell. It was fixed during the mid season....
After that, I wasn't able to see champs in champ select. I could't ban nor pick a champ, leading to me being forced to dodge games (ranked aswell). Had that until a month or two ago.
Now I have variety of issues: client shits itself if I try to go to my loot/shop/profile tab, sometimes I can't see my friendlist, in champ select I'm not connected to the chat, it takes ages to update (it stands still on 100% applying patches for like 5-10 mins)
and the last one, which is not directly tied to the client, I'm having FPS issues. I didn't change my rig for like a 2+ years now, but since the start of s8, after every update my game has less and less FPS, and since 2 days ago, I started to have FPS drops (from 70+ to 11 ...) while everything is on med-low. But do you know how much FPS I got during s7? 100+, with everything on high....

So yea, Riot, stop making weeb skins which are either edgy or just a masturbation material and focus on your fucking client cuz this is just sad...

im on a high end pc from xidax decked out x6 from them . game it self low requirements the clients updates system rip even if you spent 4000$ on it. i made a post about random frame rates like a roller coaster this was confirmed to be a program with the game its self. but a riot want fix this or acknowledge it . last idiot posted on there try blame it on every thing but the client clearly worked for riot even mention the monitor lol gasp . monitor has zero impact on fps im still shocked about that statement

Lmao and i have friends that dont know what the task manager is when that happenes imagine what they go through hahahah xD On my pc the client just crashes my entire computer lol it needs to get fixed the old client was only 96 kb wow! while the new is 4 mb why such big diffrence...

maybe my standards are lower but i don't really see the issue with it.

other than unnecessary "animations" that get in the way I've never really gotten booted out of games or anything else.

that's a lie I've unwillingly dodged like 4 games in the 5 years of playing
