Ranked system in league.

So i've been playing league for about four years now maybe longer and I have asked the same question for four years and no one wants to answer... How does the ranked Lp gain and loss system work? I feel like most of the time the reason I and others get angry at league is because we don't understand WHY we are being screwed over sometimes. It creates a lot of confusion which also creates a lot of frustration and genuine rage. I have a 55% winrate in league and I am earning as much LP as I lose. Whereas my friends who have a lower win rate gain way more than they lose. I don't quite understand if it's based on winrate, position, how well you play? I just want to understand WHY. If I understood how it worked I would enjoy the game more because I wouldn't be as confused or frustrated.

it is based on your MMR vs the enemy MMR and Riot wont let you know the MMR and claims all the 3rd party websites are wrong. Then when you are playing real people for your MMR, you do well and the system is design to middle finger you and Riot sits in the dark knowing that they have a rigged system that is built strickly to keep the majority of the players in Silver.
