I'm bad at 1v1's

So here's my problem, it seems like I always lose my confidence when I'm dueling someone, doesn't matter the game, League, DotA, DOTA 2, Poker, Chess, Checkers even Yu-Gi-Oh! for god's sake. I just had this one heads up game against one dude in poker 10 minutes ago, I was against 5 people and I won every hand, until this dude started playing with my mind, I had 4X the chips he had and I just lost them all to his stupid check, call, raise, fold because I didn't have the balls to make a move and I realized I have this problem in every game I ever played.

Every time I had a duel against someone in any game, I had this fear of making mistakes that clouded my mind every time, it's so depressing I want to end it all, and not because of some games, it's because I'm too much of a coward to make a calculated move.

Anyone had this problem and managed to cope with it? PLEASE HELP!

"A man with a plan" - simulate the 3 sec trade in your head and think when its favorable to you to play aggressive, more simply pick Lucian mid and dash on them every time they use abilities and you have minion advantage.

also if you like 1v1's 1v1 me yasuo vs yasuo

Courage.

Get some.

If you have courage you can attempt to forge a plan and execute it, whether you win or lose, you still had the COURAGE to make a plan and execute it.

You will learn more from the usage of courage to attempt to be better, than simply cowering away with your tail between your legs and taking a beating.

GLHF, You can do it if you try!

All you gotta do to gain confidence is just pretend like the person you're dueling is an even worse person than you are. That's all there is to it. That way, even if they DO think you're stupid, at least you're even.

Having the courage to make a move often heavily involves reading the situation.

I had an interesting situation in Texas Hold Em poker once. I'm going to assume you understand the rules on how the betting/dealing goes.

We have hit the turn card. I currently have a straight with my pocket cards. There are two cards of matching suit so far, so a flush draw is possible on the river. However, I already have my best possible hand guaranteed. So I make a big bet to discourage people calling. Everyone else folds and I reveal that I had the straight. They weren't exactly happy about it.

When they ask, I simply say "I already had my hand. The only other one to beat me wasn't guaranteed." And it was just that. I was playing the odds. I had expectations knowing what could come out and was ready to face the loss if someone called it.

P.S. - Assuming your name is true, you'd be excellent at 2v2.
