After the last cinematic video release i was wondering. Why riot games never discussed about the option with us the players, if we want to see in the future a movie based on the game. Obviously they capable of making a amazing quality short videos, but why don't they go for the jackpot and make full scale movie? I think the only reason is they quotation will it be profitable? We as a community can answer it, if we unite together and make some noise, it is possible to make them notice! Assuming that they will understand there is a need they will demand. Easy market principle for making money. So for the big question what can WE do? Easy,**keep this thread alive! **comment, vote, send it to your toxic/non toxic friends every player count! Because our strength is in numbers!!! That is the only factor in the equation of "will it be profitable" that we can effect and THE MOST important one. I would open a fund recruiting project, to prove how much a movie could theoretically succeed. But by not getting approval from riot games, it probably consider a fraud and a criminal act so this is all we got friends.

TL;DR- Keep this thread alive and someone will notice the community demand it. invest a bit of your time, vote, comment and send it to your friends and the dream is real that easy.

Thank you people for your time lets make it happen show we can do something as a community more there curse and blame others for feeding.

I would much rather them make another game that revolves around/expands the story and development of a few choice characters.

A full-length movie would be a terrible idea. The main thing with the cinematics is that they deliberately try to include as many different champions as possible so that the players of those champions all get a chance to see them in live-action doing their thing. The more champions they include, the more attractive the cinematic is because it hits a wider audience. A movie can't do that, at least not without losing coherency in the plot due to an overabundance of important characters. It would become cluttered and chaotic, see?

A better idea would be to create an episodic mini-series, where each ~22 minute episode chronicles the exploits and adventures of one or two champions. There are several advantages to this: firstly, there's more time for quality character development. You really get to go deep into a champion's backstory and lore, connecting them with other relevant characters and expanding on that one champion's morals, motives, inner thoughts, and personality more so than you would with a movie.

Secondly, it would be (in my opinion) more entertaining to watch. Without the looming urgency of an overarching plot, more time could be spent on action sequences and dialogue, as opposed to moving the story forward toward some conclusion. The beauty of an episodic series is that it allows you to invest deep into things that make a longer movie interesting without getting caught up in the mentality of "Ok this scene has gone on long enough, there are things that need to get done".

Thirdly, it would undoubtedly be cheaper to produce. Riot is nothing if not greedy, and they know that if a movie is produced and flops, they would take a major hit to their wallets. But an episodic mini-series can be canceled at any time if things aren't looking good financially. They would be able to take things one step (read: episode) at a time rather than going all-in on a movie that only caters to a niche fanbase. And I do mean niche; think about it like this, even if every single League of Legends player in the world went to see the movie at their local theater, Riot would still only bring in around $60 million. But a good movie can easily take $100 million to produce, and there's no way Riot will just throw away $40 million like that.

That said, the cinematics definitely show potential, and Riot undoubtedly has the funds to make some larger project happen. Whether they'll actually do it is another story.

  1. They have a great potential to create an awesome movie
  2. The plot doesnt have to be about a 5v5 fight for 1:30 hour
  3. Im sure after that the community will get hyped af and the numbers will get increased by a lot
  4. They will be the first online game which will create a movie
  5. They can ''hit'' games like fortnite with a great movie
  6. The cost might be high for a good movie but im 100% sure almost every gamer (and not only lol players) will get to see that movie which will obviously bring back x2 x3 the money that costed for this movie And 7. Why not? This game was the king of games for many years. Riot has everything they need. A huge audience , recognition all over the world, a legit budget , the animation skills , the story , the huge character pool + it is also a great idea to introduce this game to new people ( ok they might be not as hyped as watching the movie if they try to play the game but it still counts :D )

P.S They could make a poll and let the community choose 20 favorite champs to create the movie or make them choose between rivals like lucian-thresh, kha-rengar , demacia-noxus etc.

They already adressed this. They want to make a movie but since most video games movies suck, they are afraid to do it and will only do it when they are 100% sure that the movie they have in mind is good.

Everyone will say its a bad idea cause another player suggested it, if Riot suggested it everyone would be praising the idea similar to a World of Warcraft movie. I think and many other people agree they should make one, ignore the troll comments that's all they are..
