Soon enough Fortnite will see a decline, here's why

As many may have noticed is that a lot of players of our beloved game have began to put more time into Fortnite than League. Frankly, I understand them. Fortnite is an excellent game that has little bugs and a development team that is constantly trying to introduce new weapons, skins and gamemodes into the game to keep it fresh. In addition the game is also one of the little games out there today that offers a stress free environment for the player. Unlike league and other battle royale games out there today, Fortnite offers a easy learning curve and a fast paced game. Players are able to hop in and out of a game inside of a minute.

Yet I do believe that Fortnite's strengths come with their weaknesses, making me believe that the inevitable decline of the game is coming, within months. Next to losing the support of the casual gamers, who never play a game for longer then a couple of months (look at Overwatch), I am convinced that hard core gamers will come back to LOL. Fortnite does not offer the same motivation league does, this in the form of a ranked system. As much as league is a great game, I am convinced that most of us are still around because one day they wanna hit Silver/Gold/Platinum/Diamond and perhaps even higher. It is our drive. A drive that Fortnite misses, and frankly will make the game seem repetitive.

''Fortnite is an excellent game that has little bugs. '' Do you even play or have eyes or something?

Cynikul4/19/2018, 3:20:50 PM7 votes

Im surprised that you even had to ask this?

Of course it will.

Look at what happened to the other games that "were going to make league die" (the ones that topped league on twitch for like 4-6 weeks)

PubG Hearthstone Dota 2 Smite H1Z1

Wow, who would have thought new/different exciting games would beat a game (whether its colossal or not) for parts of a year?

Fortnite is a fun game, but it reminds me of TF2: it has a low skill ceiling and no one really takes it seriously.

Fortnite is like Mario Kart. Fun, unpredictable, but it gets boring as hell after awhile.

Where’s your source for players leaving League for Fortnite, or even putting more time into it? Not that it matters for my response, as I actually agree with your analysis

League has been around for almost 10 years now, and during that time there’s been countless games that were going to “take over” and keep all of the players from League - and none of them ever have. Fortnite is no different - and you’re very right that it’s not going to last.

I will say, however, that Overwatch is actually decent like League - I play a lot of OW when I have time for a 10-20 minute game but not a 30+ minute League game (i.e. between classes/study breaks/etc)

that ''ranked drive'' is highly subjective, I've been playing since 2009/2010 and for the last like 5 years I've just been playing ARAM where rank is completely irrelevant, there doesn't always needs to be a goal, dream or progression to a game, it can simply be played for it's fun value.

I wouldn't even say it is another game/games that is taking people from league. It is riots crap balance team making people leave the game. I have loved league for years and for the first time, it has been increasingly hard to have any desire to log on to play. Riot is FORCING people to find another means of entertainment because of this mess of a season.

As crappy as Fornite is after awhile, I'd still rather play it than the garbage that league has become. Until they address the snowball issue (if they pull their heads out of their asses long enough to get enough oxygen to realize this is the number 1 problem with the game rn, losing confidence daily they ever will), I'd rather play literally anything else. League is just a pain simulator, and if you're into maso, keep enjoying it, its not for me.

Or perhaps this game is garbage with Riot shitting on its player base every season?

The problem with Fortnite is just how RNG this game is. Who ever has more luck on getting the best weapons basically gets a hard lead until they meet up with the other few people who survived. Also Fortnite is really boring imo stuff only happens when you land or when you are one of the last 10 people alive or so. This game is literally walking for straight 10-15 mins or so with 3 mins of actual game content lol

Your assessment is incorrect.

Why THE HECK would anyone come back to League? Battle Royales get old real quick, but go back to League? Lehl. There is nothing to go back to; just a shadow of what was once a great game. There is no satisfaction in this game. People won't come back to league - they'll either quit gaming alltogether or find an actual good game. League atm is not a good game; it's literal garbage.

All those words just to say "Fortnite has no ranked system" ?

god, i hope battle royales aren't the next moba. they're so mind numbingly boring to play and watch

The people who left means very little to me unless they're players I can advertise cheap heroine and cocaine to.

Darius Strada4/19/2018, 7:07:21 PM1 votes

Fortnite is like Pokemon GO. Really popular for while but will also die very quickly.

Ztoka4/23/2018, 4:21:28 PM1 votes

Where did I say no other games have balance issues? I'm just making a statement that Riot is forcing people to find something more enjoyable... While other mmorpg's/mmo's have balance issues, when I played them, balance didn't seem to impact things as negatively as league. Balance issues never ruined a game for me like they have been ruining league..

LordGeovanni4/20/2018, 6:41:51 AM1 votes

development team that is constantly trying to introduce new weapons, skins and gamemodes into the game to keep it fresh.

this is literally riot but they are too lazy to put any effort into getting it done quickly because they want to maintain an immage of a laid back company.

Fortnite offers a easy learning curve and a fast paced game.

If you want to win you play the only relevant class in the game and this also becomes true. League's difficulty is brought about by its large cast of characters so it takes long to learn everything because everything is very unlikely to show up but learning champions is easy learning the meta is easier and you can really consider yourself finished until you come up against something new after which you only need to watch their champion for a bit and play around it.

Or maybe it's just time to accept that every so many years a different genre of games will blow up in popularity and replace the current most popular genre and that freaking out about changes literally nothing.

MMORPGs got replaced by MOBAs. MOBAs are getting replaced by Battle Royal. It's really not a bad thing. You can still play and enjoy MOBAs.

Eh, I don't think it will "fall" but probably reduce in how over the top popular it is. Most streamers that made the jump did so because league streaming is highly competitive while a new game like fortnight is less so. The game always includes new things so that youtubers and them can create new and interesting content meaning the viewer always has a new stimulus to the game. Playing it is easy and unlike League that has so many people who are way too competitive, there's no reason to be in Fortnight. Just sit back and relax each game. That feeling of just playing for enjoyment is what games are all about: being GAMES.

But you are right, Fortnight did have the initial huge influx of players. A lot are going to fall off. But many more will stick to the game and provide a large market for streamers who decide to stick around even when things become more competitive for views. I do believe some will return to their original games, whether it be Overwatch, League, or maybe even PUBG once things become competitive in the Fortnight buisness. When money is just as hard to come by there as it is in other places, some of the charm will likely fall off and they could split their time between games. That is honestly a healthier buisness model for a streamer since an individual games flux and fall and growth doesn't hurt their income as much.

So in other words, Money. Once money becomes harder to make for streamers, you'll see more shift to what will likely be their true resting place when it comes to their streaming scheduel. As a result, player base will likely shift with them.
