What makes Ahri's charm better than stuns?

I see not much great about it. It is usually maxed last and lategame teamfights charm is already kinda impossible to land to squishies.

Then charm doesnt help escape as it is basically a slow if you are running away. If Yi or Phase rush user appear her charm basically turns into a death spell for her.

So sure you walk towards ahri for 1 sec in early to mid game... but is that really anything special? What made charm better than a stun was because you can stop dashes, but now that the mechanic is gone what makes charm better than a normal stun?

People refer her charm as best cc in game, but why? What squishy will allow charm to land against them during teamfights? Even if it does land Ahri is probably on your face at that point and enemy walking towards you while charmed makes it harder to land a Q as you are on top of him.

People may argue blitcrank Q, but what makes blitz so deadly is his follow up with knock up and silence, one stopping anything a squishy can do against it. Enemy cannot qss blitz grab while ahris charm can be qssed and ahri provides no other form of utility except her very weak damage.

But charm becoming a stun will affect her lore? Since when did riot care about lore when they added movement speed to her Q? Offering no damage, no utlility but survivability for early game.

Tldr: What makes charn the best cc in game when it is basically a suicide cc against yi or any phase rush users? When it actually hurts her kiting so much as the enemy is able to walk more closely to you? With stun you can run away more and land more skill shots easily, so how is charm a good spell in anyway? If anything it is a worse version of a stun.

No one refers to her charm as the best cc in the game.

Ahri uses the charm to catch people out. If you're ahead its a death sentence for any squishy that gets caught by it. If you're behind then of course its much less useful.

It brings opponents out of position to defend the person charmed, AND it drags that person away from the group.. AND it slows them.. AND it works through Yi's Highlander (slowing him even while ulted)

All her other abilities are some form of proximity/skillshots, so if you hit your charm you're almost guaranteed to land the rest of your damage. So her charm is really good against "straight line" champions. Like Lee Sin, Master Yi, Ww, because if you time it correctly, you're guaranteed to get your charm off, and all your damage follows that.

I dont get what is so hard to understand, especially for someone who is an Ahri main.

Her charm is better than a stun when you want the enemy to walk towards you, its that simple. When you are grouped, its better than a stun when it makes someone walk into your team when you catch them out. When you are running, its not better than a stun because they still walk towards you. It was never supposed to be better than a stun in every situation, its better in only some situations and worse in others.

Also I have never seen anyone refer to charm as the best CC in the game. The best CC in the game is easily knock ups. I dont even think thats a debatable point.

What makes charm better than a stun?

Because it's a reverse of fear. They can't perform any actions and are forced to move towards you. Rather than forcing them to stay in place while doing nothing, you force them to walk further away from safety.
