Poll: MMR reset for old returning players?

I played a lot in season 1 and 2. Had a very high w/r and MMR. I played one game with some friends of mine who are all bronze/iron from what they told me. I know only 5 percent of the items, know no keybindings, no jungle camps, not all the new heroes, interfaces, etc. It's like a completely new game for me. Yet we met much higher leveled opponents cause my old MMR must still count. But I actually played worse than my teammates ,cause I need to relearn everything again, and just want to chill and not study everything new before playing with my friends. Needles to say cause we played all gold and silver team, we where absolutely wrecked. No fun in such a stomp for anyone involved. And it was my old high MMR causing this issue. I wrote to Riot if I can reset MMR. They said no,but that I could make a post like this to see what you guys think. I feel bad about having to make a new account, and loosing all my old characters and points if I where to play again. Very demotivating for an old returning player. Or I could play many matches where I will get absolutely stomped every match until MMR resets. Which is not an inviting thought.

Looking forward to seeing what others feel like regarding this. I don't feel it is a good approach of getting very old players back into the game, it's very demoralizing.

Thank you so much for reading, and have a great day.

fighting better opponents will help you get better. Plus who cares about normals mmr.

Isn't it automatically reset once you haven't played for 1 season?

worse case scenario, just make a new account

that way your have no mmr

it will let you reacclimate to the game

This isn't much to you probably, but your MMR will decline after several games if you end up playing at a lower level than you are currently evaluated at.

I would probably just rely on that versus losing all yours skins and stuff.

Alternatively: relearn the game on a new account and then swap back to your older account once you're more caught up to the game.

Agreed, I had a rough return as well. MMR decay only happens when over a certain rank and only goes down to a point.

Matchmaking doesn´t only take your mmr in account but also those of your allies and enemies. It´s possible to have a low (almost beginner like) mmr while being challenger in ranked. So your enemies could have a very low mmr while being pretty decent at the game. All they need to do is to rarely play normals. Or they could play with their friends who have lower mmr which would screw with matchmaking.

Besides that the game has changed heavily. Snowball is higher, damage is perhaps higher (or at least feels like) and the time for a match was shortened from around 30-45 minutes to 18-30 minutes. What I want to say with it: games might tend/feel to be more onesided and stompheavier.

Besides that I don´t believe that creating a new account would help much. It won´t (entirely) solve the problems listed above and smurfs are also a thing. Best would be to play 5 man premade and not caring about wins/losses.

I quitted playing league (for various reasons: gameplay, community behaviour, Riot as a company - greedy/shady company practises etc., and the game ultimately don´t giving me joy but frustration instead) but am still occasionally lurking on the boards. First I hesitated to comment but ultimately thought it wouldn´t harm me to answer/help.

I've had the same issue. My old acc was from season 2 when I started. I got to silver then quit. I've had 3 other accounts and got them to challenger, and other 2 in masters. But my old acc is pretty much impossible to play rank with. Over 20 games I get unranked in my team vs high gold plat players. Mmr is bs I can't even carry when my whole team are playing like bots being 0/15
