YouTube is going full moron again and messing with their content creators (yet again)

The TL:DR is that their videos are getting marked as "Not Advertiser Friendly" for the smallest of things like a gun on the thumbnail or having "hateful" words such as 'hate', 'hell' or 'very bad' as a few examples, or even for the most unfair one being the very comments in the video.

They can appeal them, but by the time they can deal with that (if they are lucky enough to get it appealed), the damage is done and a large chunk of revenue is gone due to the first few days of viewership being the most important.

All to protect kids 5 or younger who really shouldn't be watching things on YouTube anyways...

... even though those messed up cartoons are still running rampant...

YouTube is trying to kill oh wait can't say that... 'abruptly quit' their own service again, wat do?

I feel like setting the bar at a 5 year old level might be a sorta horrendous idea. Could be wrong though.

twitch streaming has been more lucrative to content creators for some time now

Google wants to destroy youtube?

Their very on search engine allows the search of the WORST POSSIBLE TOPICS ON THE PLANET... yet youtube even having a gun video is now an issue?

Uhhh excuse me but wat?

There are many people that go to youtube just to watch gun content, large fanbase around that and hunting.

#And that's coming from me, and I do NOT AT ALL like guns. (I hate them IRL. They actually scare me a lot.)

Youtube is actually making a sincerely terrible mistake with this if true.

Good, let it all burn down, something better will rise from the ashes. There are already competitors starting up and they will only increase in popularity.

Leia said it best in A New Hope: "The more your tighten your grip the more star systems will slip through your fingers."

Yeah this absolutely screws small content creators because you have to reach a certain view threshold to request a manual review and then it usually takes them a week to do the manual review. By that point the video has gotten 90% of the views it's gonna get. So basically if you get the yellow $ on your video you just completely wasted your time because you aren't going to make any money on it. It can be a real kick to the balls, especially if your content isn't controversial at all.

So wait who exactly gains anything when a video is marked advertiser unfriendly. ADs don't go to the advertisers or the content creator. Where does that potential money go?

I'm sure he was joking when he said "uh oh I said hell in my vid's title looks like it's not advertiser friendly" I'd say the same about "gun in thumbnail" and what most of they people in it said C'mon now. He says it himself. His "draw my life" vid isn't suitable for ads, but has no real violence or "bad grownups words" yet the one where he slaps his dick in a tight suit is just fine. People just don't know what to do anymore and want to spread the info that youtube is, yet again, asking their bots to do on massive damaging sprees.
