Do I really need to create a smurf account just to play TFT with my friends??

I just reached platinum in TFT but my friends are still silver. But now I can't play with them because I'm too high level? I'm not even that much better than them. Now I have to create a smurf just to play with my friends now... It'd be nice if I could be allowed to play with lower level people, but if I win, just don't give me as much rank points, or something like that.

Just play normals? The mode made for that?

Ranked wise that won't happen, because any gain means the best way to rank up would be queuing with a bunch of Iron players and stomping for the guaranteed wins.
