When Can I Go Back?

Hello, it's me again. I know my previous post sounded too whiny to respond to, so I'll just explain my situation:

Ever since I started playing League of Legends, I've always made risky, stupid decisions that have resulted in my immediate, repeated death in matches. After a while, I went to Training mode and developed a new, smarter way of doing things that has allowed me to lvl up in matches without dying 100 times in row (this is an exaggeration). However, when I tested out my method in PvP, I died a bunch of times in a row again. When that was combined with 1 or 2 players saying "u suck" THE ENTIRE MATCH, I panicked and returned to my risky strategy, which got me killed even more times.

We ended up surrendering.

At the end of the match, pretty much the entire team told me it was my fault we lost, which is true. They said to play Bot matches until I got better, and I took their advice. Now, probably close to half of the matches I've played are Bot matches.

I thought I was good enough to come back to PvP, but I was wrong.

"When Jungling, get Smite." By now, this is common knowledge. In bot matches, I've Jungled pretty successfully, but because of my thick-hardheadedness, I always got Heal instead of Smite. I never bothered to learn how to Jungle the RIGHT way. As a result, when I chose to Jungle in a PvP match, we lost. Literally EVERYONE ON MY TEAM told me to get Smite, but I thought "Heal is more useful than Smite." I was completely wrong.

You can imagine their reactions when I didn't get Smite, but just in case, here are a few: "y didn't u get smite?" "down syndrome" "dude ur handicapped" "autism" "there's something wrong with u"

We surrendered that match, too.

After that experience, I went back to Bot matches, got Smite, Jungled the way it's supposed to be done (the smarter, more beneficial way), and even figured out a secondary champion I could use if my primary was chosen by someone else.

However, I don't know if I've become good enough to return to PvP and actually do useful things.

I don't know whether I've gotten better at all, or if it's just because I've been against Bots.

I don't even know if I can ever go back to PvP.

So, here's my question: When can I go back?

If anyone had the patience to read this and reply, thank you in advance.

If anyone read this but didn't reply, please reply. I want multiple opinions.

And if anyone read this, and their response was "What a NNNNOOOOOOOOBBBB!!!!" and won't help me, I can't say that I'm not to blame.

Thank you all so much! To be honest, I didn't expect anyone to reply. Again, thanks for the advice!

Also, I'm writing my replies here because for some reason, I can't post comments or replies (I click the button, but it doesn't post).

Just watch a few junglers' games in youtube just for getting an idea how and when use your smite, also gank lanes. Then start PvPs. Always say in chat that you are learning the jungle. No one ever can say anything. If they say, mute and continue your game.

P.S: jungling wants a good map awareness, that's why you need more experience from better players (videos) and playing. Good luck

To be honest, you really need to learn lanes before you can appreciate jungle. And the best way to learn to be better in PvP is to play PvP - even if you’re losing all the games. If you’re getting flamed by people then just mute and report them.

Regardless of how well or poorly you're playing, ignore people like this. Even if you hard carry a game, some people will just be assholes for the sake of being assholes. Only pay attention to the people that give you constructive criticism.

Before I respond to anything else: Do whatever you want. If you feel the need to play PvP matches and practice, do that. Nobody can stop you and it isn't a reportable offense to learn the game or under-perform in your games. As long as you're actively trying to improve and learn, that's all that matters.

Some people (myself included) would recommend familiarizing yourself with the game fully before going into Ranked queues but at the end of the day the same message above still applies. Just constantly try to improve and learn and you'll do fine.

Bot games are invaluable, they can teach you so much about the game but jungling is the one thing that you can't learn really well without practicing in PvP modes.

Since there's no jungler on the enemy team, that means no counterjungling, no counterganking, no contesting objectives, no invading, and it removes a huge part of the vision game as well. I'd suggest watching a few videos on how to jungle and follow them as closely as possible. After you get comfortable with the basics of it, then start branching out and try other builds or pick up more difficult champions.

Speaking strictly on the topic of Smite: There are some champions who can efficiently jungle without smite (in the sense of clearing normal camps like the Red/Blue buffs) but nothing will ever beat the utility of Smite. It helps you secure camps and objectives, improves your ganking, dueling, and chasing capabilities, allows you to build jungle-specific items, and grants the ability to get more EXP from jungle camps which will keep you relevant throughout the game.

Honestly, whenever you want. If you've become comfortable with the game or specific roles you can jump back in whenever you like. Just keep trying to improve and don't let the toxic players get to you. Mute them, focus on the game and how you can improve your own gameplay, and you'll do just fine.

Another thing to note is that if you haven't played many PvP matches there's a good chance you're being paired with people above your skill level. If you keep playing it will eventually get you somewhere near where you belong.

Also, playing against bots is only really useful to practice mechanics. They don't act like real players at all.
