What are the Do's and Don'ts for a Gold player

I wanna say I've been hard-struck gold for as long as I can remember with just a taste of plat and I'm looking to improve to climb higher. In a general sense, what should I be looking out for and what should I avoid? I've watched videos and streams to soak in as much as I can. Laning phase I feel for the most part I'm fine.. but in the last week or two I've lost a lot more games than I ever wanted. So any advice you see a lot of us gold frogs are doing that we should stop; feel free to let me know! :) Thanks!

As a previously diamond jg who is slumming in gold after a long hiatus, I really notice that gold players don't keep track of the enemy/their JG with wards or paying attention to the map. They also don't rotate to other lanes where fights are taking place. They also don't change their tactics once behind or ahead in lane (ie being conservative or pressuring).
