Is saying "ch1ng ch0ng" racist? (poll)

Now lemme give you some context, I'm playing a ranked game(low plat) and there is this asian duo talking a lot of trash on our team in all chat. Mid game they decide to start throwing/trolling by afking bot lane and not grouping etc because I guess our team is too trash. They start talking in some asian language and I say in chat "great, now they are speaking in ch1ng ch0ng instead of english gg". Now you may be thinking, that was offensive. Yeah I agree, but I dont know which language they were speaking so i generalized it to ch1ng ch0ng. Is it offensive? Yes. Is it Racist? Helll no.

You can probably see where this is going, yes I got suspended. But oh no, it was not a chat restriction, it was a 2 week ban from the game.

Is rito really this pathetic? Can you really say the most disgusting hurtful thing possible to someone and all they get is a chat restriction but if someone says "ch1ng ch0ng" you get 2 week ban because its racist?

Now I sit here with nothing to do. What do I even do with my life now for 2 weeksitem 3070 ? Thank you for listening to my story, I hope no asians were offended. ((and yes this is an alt account))

It is indeed a racist comment, as a quick google search would show you. You may personally find it amusing, but it is a pejorative expression, and one Riot has zero tolerance for (which means it earns a 14-day ban on the first offense).

Also, I always recommend a little less obvious bias in your polls. :P

This is the EXACT SAME SLUR that got Sven banned from worlds a few years ago. Seraph later refused to shake Sven's had due to this incident.

I don't even get why this is up for debate.

What it sounds like you did was degrade them for speaking their own language, mocked them for it, generalized it (by your own words), and treated it like it's not a real language (by using a fake phrase instead of a language). You said you don't understand the difference between Asian languages, and instead of asking them what they were speaking, used a "joke" phrase instead. The context in which you said this baffles me. You were obviously complaining that they were no longer speaking English. I live in Canada, and I've run into people speaking French. I've occasionally joked in Japanese as well. You don't have to speak English in the game chat. Your response to people speaking other languages shows that you are insecure about only speaking one language.

how hard is it to just stop being a dicc and don't use the phrase ¯_(ツ)_/¯ you might not have used it in a racist context but the word itself have a racist history which is why it's racist. it's similar to how white people can't use the n word

I'm German I can't keep up with all that US's crazy hate speech stuff and I don't think it's hateful. However I also don't make the rules, Riot makes them, so just don't use the words on their list. It's that easy.

What makes you think they don't also get banned? There's a lot of stuff that gets sent immediately to a 2 week ban. Watch yourself btw, the next one is permanent.

Go out and live it, or just pick up a different game for a while. Either way you'd be better off.

the simple fact here is that "you either agree with us or you are a racist" is just the most unarguable point ever.. noone is gonna argue, because noone wants to be labeled racist.. it's this weird mob mentality. victim complexes. unrealistic, no grey area egotist.

the fact is, so few people actually agree with these people, but they also can't argue because they will also be labeled with all the names and hot button keywords that these SJWs are assigning to everyone..

it's a sad world we live in, but it is the direction society is going..

Nami Well that was fun. I'm going to go ahead and lock this one now. While we understand people may have differing viewpoints, this type of language is and will not be allowed on the Boards.
