Explaining lp

I'd just like to know how lp works along with the mmr. Im silver 2 and i've been climbing a bit. I just checked my MMR on op.gg it says it's normal yet when I win I win less lp then when I lose. I lose about 21 lp when I lose a game and win about 17 when I win a game. can some one explain?

op.gg is very inaccurate, yet people rely on it for some unknown reason.

Ignore op.gg's mmr number as it is an estimate using their own formulas. Only riot knows your true mmr. Losing 21 and gaining 17 lp means you are in a higher division than the game thinks you should be. Likewise gaining 25 and losing 16 means you are placed lower than where the game believes you skill level to be.

Don't look at op.gg for the estimated MMR... look at the people you are getting matched with.

You are silver 2

Your last game was: 1 Gold 5 1 silver 1 3 Silver 2s 2 Silver 3s 2 Silver 4s 1 unranked that was silver 4 last season and was on their first game

20% were a higher rank than you. 30% were the same rank as you. 50% were a lower rank than you.

So 80% were either your rank or lower... that means your MMR is on the low side for your rank. This is why you gain less than you lose.

when your mmr is "normal" winning and losing about the same amount is the intended function. you will need to win a few times in a row to get your MMR above your real rank for gains to be more than losses.

MMR is, IN THEORY, The number that should rank where you belong in a match-making profile (low MMR = bad)

LP is essentially your league points and where you ACTUALLY rank.

For the most part, The corelation should be simple. High MR = better match making = better chance to win = high LP
