Is it just me or does it feel like hextech boxes give MORE champion shards now?

I have posted about this once before. And I'm going to post it again.

Riot. This is absolutely ridiculous. I actually spent money to do this. I had about 6 boxes laying around collecting dust and so I decided to spend a little dough in order to grab a few keys. So I open the boxes and lo and behold. Literally every single item barring one simple skin shard (which I already had), were champion shards. Not even a ward skin or an icon....

For pete's sake riot. You give so many flipping options for champion shards. You level up and get champion shards. You hit level 50 you get a GLORIOUS CHAMPION CAPSULE..... which just dumps more champion shards on you. You spend money on these freaking hextech boxes and you GET MORE CHAMPION SHARDS.

Riot. I have every champion. They're useless. I don't care about Mastery Tokens. I have 154,000 Blue Essence and now? Now? I don't even want to spend money to get a hextech. Cause I just get more champ shards.

Look I get it. You want players that are new to have champion shards. To get something cool for them playing. But what about players like me? Players that had tons and tons of IP before this huge change happened and now have tons and tons of blue essence.

Champion Shards are worthless to me. I can't reroll them for a new champion anymore and turning them into blue essence is really just pointless since there is literally nothing to buy with blue essence.

Please. I'm begging you. Do something that's worthwhile for the players that shelled out years of gameplay and tons of time and energy to get every champion and every rune (before the runes were reworked).

It doesn't even have to be skin shards. Free Emotes. 1 Random Chroma Skin. A ward skin. Something that the long time vets can actually enjoy getting.

The new players have a bunch of things catered to them to make their road to collecting every champion a heck of a lot easier. You did good. The new players are going to enjoy their trip. I tip my hat off to you and will acknowledge your good deed to the newbies that start their journey through the Rift. Now please. Focus on the vets now please...?

it would be nice to stop getting champions if you have all champs, but i would have to assume, coding the RNG manipulation would be incredibly difficult to not give champs if you have all of them, hence the RNG. it's...well...random

It'd be cool if they pulled an Overwatch and what they did to their loot boxes (that is, reducing/practically eliminating the duplicates) from being obtainable so you can actually feel like you're progressing or something. Even if they made loot boxes harder to get, that'd be fine because then you would get all kind of different, never obtained items, instead of 3 fucking copies of nunu or mordekaiser, lol.

I have no idea. I'm chat restricted, so I don't get boxes.

I do know, however, that I've only gotten one 6300 champ shard, two 4800 shards, and six 3150 shards out of 27 capsules.

Orange essence disenchant was also nerfed. It's inexplicable why they'd do this unless the suits are pulling the squeeze.

It only makes sense if you get champ shards just by leveling up and that they have nerfed disenchant essence that the boxes would have better loot tables than they did before but somewhere along the lines some money guy probably went N-O.

This makes the savvy league consumer especially wary of the value of their lootbox content. And Riot hasn't even made a proper attempt to reassure us of their value. Not even just to increase sales. They'd rather silently bank on those that still waste money on it.

They were actually pretty decent before for just random bulk content. Now they are terrible. And no I've never ever bought any. I can just deduce by pbe and the changes what they're like.

People have been talking about hextech chests being screwed for a couple months now, so no, you aren't the only one.

While I agree hextech chests aren't in an optimal place, they're also now the second most reliable source of blue essence. I don't have the link available, but on a previous Ask Riot, I believe they said they were trying to make more customization options available that you'd need blue essence to acquire. Granted, this isn't as useful for those of you who already have over 1mil Blue Essence, but hey, for those of us who haven't played daily since season 1/2/3, and don't have every champ available, it's pretty useful.

Back to hextech chests though, they're more or less a gamble. It's similar to getting a lottery ticket, however you're guaranteed to get at least SOMETHING. There was actually a huge debate fairly recently about Loot Boxes and whether or not they count as gambling, which would make them illegal to sell to minors, thus costing games a lot of profit. I don't exactly know the final answer of that debate, but we still have loot boxes around.

If the chances of getting something you want don't seem as high as you'd like, then I'd suggest just paying for the skins you want. At least then you're guaranteed something you'll enjoy. :3
