I am indeed the inventor of the "Inting Sion" strategy, having done it since basically the rebirth of Sion. You will see the match history dating before 2018 with game after game of repeated build. Some variation here and there but ultimately the same.

I understand that many players are having frustrations over this strategy, either with them on their team or on the enemy team. The thing you have to understand is that there are many ways to play the game. The vast majority of how players play the game has made them unable to visualize or conceptualize new ways to play unless a "good" or "diamond player" plays it first, and leads them to disavow another players attempts at creativity.

There are both merits and flaws to this strategy. One of the merits is how much the enemy team has to focus on you while the rest of you team can group to take other objectives. However, one of the flaws is if the enemy team ignores you and groups together on your allied team, trading your 1-2 tower gets with possibly 4 kills, 3 towers and a nexus. It is all a matter of balancing your split push with joining and engaging with your team in a team fight.

Below I have made a series of build suggestions, rune modifications, and playstyle suggestions that may help you better utilize your power and potential as Sion.

Step 1: Give up flash. You're "inting" with Sion anyways, so if you're going to go full ham GO FULL HAM. You aren't trying to escape, you're trying to take them down with you, so just before you die, drop that exhaust on the closest person hitting you and make them regret it in your afterdeath.

Step 2: Decide whether or not you want to take smite. A Sion should strive to steal 1-2 jungle monsters from the enemy level 1 if they can. Red buff and krugs will get you to level 2 (can be done solo thanks to passive), but just taking the red buff is fine. However, there is benefit to taking smite as well, especially into late game. Aside from objective securing and persistent jungle stealing, that 15% health boost from cinderhulk will have a huge impact late game, especially in beefing up your shield strength, demolition damage, and health regen with Second Wind.

Step 3: To Phase Rush or Not to Phase Rush. If you are going for complete ham domination, get phase rush. Phase rush will almost always help you secure someones death after you die, either phase rush procs then you follow it up with the speed up skill after death, or use the speed up skill to catch up so that the phase rush procs to keep you in distance. If everything is timed perfectly, you might end up letting yourself die to the blue/red buff and kill it just as the jungler is making his way over, then going full afterdeath ham on him. Sorry, flash probably wont save him, phase rush + speed surge almost guarantees his death level 1. (convince your team to invade and bring nothing but CC skills first. Its ok to be the first die as long as you make 100% effort to take everyone else down with you)

Step 4: Gank bot lane at level 6. Do It. Just Do it. You have a 60% chance of dieing, and an 80% chance of killing at least 2 of the enemy. This is especially easily done when you use it to initiate the tower dive. Wait till you are close enough that the end of your ult reaches just behind their tower for maximum surprise entrance if you can, or if you think they will be a bit closer than that you can do it sooner. You get ahead, your teammates get ahead.

Step 5: Why aren't you getting Frozen Mallet? I see all these "inting Sions" NOT getting frozen mallet. Aside from the damage increase, and the health increase, ALL WHICH ARE GOOD THINGS FOR YOU, your goal is to take as many people down with you. Frozen mallet + your passive + speed surge skill + phase rush option = Someone is very likely to NOT get away from you.

Step 6: Lots of choices. After rushing Titantic Hydra, Frozen Mallet, and Steraks Gage, its pretty gravy from here. Want to be the Ubyr tank as well? Get Gargoyles Plate + Locket of Solari. If you've gotten your health to at least 5000 (that rune that gives % health increase is so useful for Sion) and are in a full teamfight, pop the Gargoyle to get to 10000 hp, then pop the Locket to give everyone 2.5 seconds of a 2000 shield (shields for 20% of maximum health). BROOOOKEN.

Or, if you wanna be the kicking master, go the critical route. Phantom Dancer + Infinity Edge to become the kicking master and make them cry. as you're doing about 500-600+ damage per crit, FAST. Now you can go STUPID Ham on a group of people.

Build suggestions.

item 3748 item 3047 item 3022 item 3053 item 3193 item 3190 Late game replace shoes with item 3026 as a staple choice, item 3001 or item 3075 if you think they would help, or if you took smite, DEFINITELY get some variation of item 1413 (cinderhulk) for that deeeeeep bonus health.

item 3748 item 3006 item 3022 item 3053 item 3046 item 3031 and later replace shoe with either item 3026 as a staple choice or item 3094 to max the crit, increase your speeds, and get that extra reach. Imagine yourself some sort of 5000 Health tank and Steraks Gage pops, now you're a giant with 100% crit doing 500-600~ a crit with that heavy titanic hydra splash damage and looking like a Yi with how fast you're swinging that axe. Brutal.

Now, go forth and do it right. The goal is not to die for nothing, that is where players are doing it wrong. You need to STRATEGICALLY use your death, not just give up kills. Don't run up to that turret and keep hitting it with all enemies around you unless you are fairly sure you can get it with your passive at least.

I'm a top lane main and never really played Sion much until inting Sion, but I absolutely love splitting and so I just had to try it. I agree with everything you've said and already thought about taking smite with this strategy for that juicy bonus waveclear + 15% more HP. Phase rush is an interesting proposition that I hadn't considered though...

In any case, I'm here to make the case for Guinsoo's second item after Titanic (Or third item if you're going cinderhulk).

Titanic Guinsoo's was a strategy originally used by Aatrox players before the rework, it gave massive damage and decent tankiness. The reason the build works so well is because of the massive synergy between the two items, Guinsoo's double procs titanic, and titanic has an auto reset to stack Guinsoo's faster. It also increases your tower damage massively. Beyond those items I highly recommend frozen mallet and steraks for more damage + more onhit damage from titanic. I'm curious about what you think of the build, I've been using on a lot of different champs and I really enjoy playing it, although it's not always the most optimal build. For inting Sion though, I think it gives everything he wants.

As a long-time Sion player, thank you for this cool build. It's funny, I queued up to play it the other night, but my team ended up feeding really hard across the map and I kinda bitched-out on committing fully to the int. However my dedication to towers and objective netted us the win, so that was cool. FMallet was definitely one of my first items once I got past the Hydra/Sterakk buys.

Tbh the freelo of the void does a better job at pushing while not massively feeding the enemy team.

I can't say I play Sion, but I'm curious to see how matchups affect how you play Sion. Specifically Illaoi, Renekton, Darius, Aatrox, (since those are the biggest lane counters I can think of) but also any others you watch out for yourself.

Don't feel like you have to go in depth, mostly want to know how a tank should face high damage sustain bruisers.
