Champions You'd Like to See Reworked in 2019
I'd like to think that we all aware that there are many champions in League that are very outdated with the current game. When League first started they were fine with how Riot's philosophy of how the game should be, but over time that philosophy changed and so did the game, leaving these champs behind and some being problematic (with that term varying from person to person).
At the same time, however, some of Riot's attempts to rework champs, mainly with the class updates, have been lackluster and caused more champs to become problems, mainly in pro-play and sometimes in normals. Hence why Riot has ceased class updates all together.
And even after that, there are some champs released or individually reworked that deal with this issue as well. Kalista and Azir are some examples.
With that said, there is always the possibility that many of these champs will become candidates for reworks in the near future. How those will turn out will always be remained to be seen, but we can always dream of them just being better than what they are now.
So, to stop beating around the bush, I want to ask you the question: which champions do you feel should be considered/chosen for reworks going into 2019?
Now, I want to give some brief guidelines on this topic:
- Champs that are in dire need of a VGU are generally more appreciated (by me at least). This means that champions that are very high up on the tier list mentioned by Reav3, such as Dr. Mundo, Fiddlesticks, Skarner, Shaco, etc., are more than welcomed
- Champs that are already being reworked at the moment, such as Kayle/Morgana and the recent Ezreal rework (which hasn't even hit live yet), should considered being left unmentioned. They are either already being worked on or soon to be released and in either case, we don't have enough knowledge or experience to judge them just yet.
- Champs that have been reworked for a while now and have failed for a majority of what they are suppose to be or what their rework was suppose to do are welcomed. So the such of say Sejuani is fine. (If you mention Ryze, though, you're kind of beating a dead horse)
- Try to keep your list to 5-6 champs. Reav3 has mentioned that they're going to be doing a 50/50 split of reworks and new champs, similar to 2017. Considering that they are got roughly about 6 updates around that time, it's probably better to assume that we'll roughly get the same number in 2019.
- Try to at least explain the problems that your chosen champ has on the game, whether it's that they're bad or annoyingly OP/problematic, or even explain how you'd want to see them reworked, in theme or actual gameplay.
With that out of the way, I'll start off with my list:
Cho'Gath - One of my old, all-time favorite champions when i first started League, Cho hasn't really aged that well. Before his semi-rework he was OK. Basic but got the job done and wasn't that much of a problem (to my knowledge). After his semi-rework he became an absolute monster (for balance). He was pretty high tier for a while, was given a large amount of CC with a knockup, AoE silence, and a slow. Not to mention that he could just stack his ult indefinitely now, which kind of what made him a problem when you add everything together.
Now, while I don't have a clear idea on what his rework should specifically be, I know how the theme of it should go. Cho'Gath for the most part should be similar to a scaling monster, both in terms of gameplay and in theme. His base model starts fairly small and so do his abilities. Over the course of the game though, as he starts to feed (which I guess I should mention he keeps his ult), he becomes bigger, tankier, and his abilities start to become enhanced. They may gain bigger AoEs, they may do additional effects, he should feel like a Kaiju that reigns large area destruction. That's what I initially thought when I first saw him and that's the theme I'ld like to see stay the same. There's even fan made concept art of his rework that I feel would be perfect for him that I recommend you check out if you haven't seen it.
**Mordekaiser - ** I think a lot of people will want Mord reworked, especially his mains. Reav3 if I recall mentioned that he's very high on their list and would even be surprised if they didn't get to him in 2019. At least I'm sure one Rioter said that. Nevertheless, I think you all know where Mord stands today: a previous OK battlemage reworked as an experiment for a melee carry bot, then suddenly made powerful, nerfed out of bot and just ridden with god knows how many bugs.
Mordekaiser, by no contest, I feel is the new old Yorick: his model is just ugly, gameplay lacking or problematic (depending on how you view it) and overall just lacks a feeling he's there. I can't really say that much about how I'd want to see him, since I don't even dare hover over him in-game (even though I do want to try and play him), but if you know the famous Malicious Metal and seen a few of his posts on what he should be or look like, that's probably what I'd be OK with.
Nocturne - Now, Nocturne I don't typically play a lot, nor know what problems he has, but I honestly feel like his theme could be fleshed out a bit more. All he really is right now is dive at carry pre-team fight phase and just try to snowball. He only has one targeted fear effect, Ult is OK IMO but he doesn't really play off as this haunting, nightmarish demon entity. Something that includes more fear effects, maybe give him a bit more team fighting boost would make him seem better themed. Idk, I don't really have that much to say about him but I feel he should get something.
Tryndamere - To put it bluntly, I don't like this guy. I don't like play as him, especially don't like playing against him, he's just a pain and outdated champion. Either you play a champ that he easily counters you and you have your laning experience or you choose a champ to counter him and he basically becomes a sitting bitch (hey, look how far I god without cursing). Free crit chance from his passive, and a pretty large amount at that, is kind of ridiculous to have on a modern day champ when you look at it. The heal is meh I guess if you're not going AP, which let's not forget how stupidly broken that was, W feels clunky since it's only fully effective when enemies are facing away from you, E is just his way of dashing out of trouble and the fact that it just comes off of CD so quick with how it works with crit almost makes it feel like it's only on a 5 second CD and his ult is just his "SCREW YOUR FREE KILL" card. I mean, he can use it during CC. The only reason for that is because if he couldn't, he'd be near useless.
So, yeah I don't like Tryndamere. He's just a champ that I view as annoying but very problematic, mainly because outside of his kit, all he ever does is split push. So half of the time when you face him, you have to just babysit with him in lane so he doesn't immediately push towards your base. It has happened to me in many games and just pisses me off.
**Malphite - ** I really don't understand why people don't list him higher. He's kind of an outdated tank by many means. His shield is OK, but his Q mainly is just for a single target and then only benefits himself. His W I guess is decent and his E I suppose can be good for attack heavy comps, but really what gets me is his ult. Yes, it is iconic and useful, but to me I almost feel it doesn't give much room to counterplay. Yes, you can make the argument of predicting and timing flash just right to avoid it, but if he is up close to you face and he ults, there is no dodging that. It is point blank range AoE damage and knockup. It's probably one of the more powerful ults in the game, considering its potential of turning a team fight around/ helping Yasuo greatly, but the fact that when he activates it and it just goes off so fast, leaving little time to react, especially like I said up close, it really makes me wonder why people don't bring it up more. And not to mention that this is kind of a large portion of why he's played, so you can argue it's eating his power budget.
**Dr Mundo - ** Mundo goes where he pleases, yes, but not to many other's please. This is just a champ that, generally, doesn't really feel that much of a theme. He's all about health and regen, something that can just be countered by a few items and a particular summoner spell. That's it. On top of that, his kit, while basic, may not fully be the best designed. His Q's can just chunk you for little cost to him, W with Sunfire makes insane damage, and not to mention tenacity, E is just... I don't know what it is anymore and ult is what almost makes him broken nowadays since that buff (and I know he got nerfed but bare with me). He's just a champ that could use a bit more work to make his theme more interesting and not just be 'builds lots of health while still doing large amounts of damage.'
So that my list, but what are your thoughts? Are some of my choices similar to yours, do you have different champs you want to see get worked on next year? Discuss below, I'm interested in reading.
sits at a global 60% banrate no matter his winrate, indicating how players feel about his current state. But I guess he's too popular...
Everything about him feels like a dust-covered toy you used to play with, and only remember you still have when you pack your things up to move. Drain is probably the most awkward feeling ability in the game. Dark Wind doesn't do enough damage to poke or clear raptors effectively, but just enough to frustrate ADCs. His Fear is nice, the lack of counterplay on CC that strong is not. His only terrain scaling is his ult, but his tiny health pool means you pretty much need Hourglass to survive it. Which brings me to the biggest problem with Fiddlesticks: when he's behind, he's a caster minion with a fear, when ahead, he cannot keep a killing spree going. His low health and lack of escapes mean Fiddlesticks is usually a Shutdown gold-filled piñata.
GOOD HEAVENS, WOULD YOU LOOK AT THE TIME! IT'S HALF PAST REWORK RYZE O'CLOCK!
I feel like this character only has a Q and an R. The bouncing chompers from Odyssey were neat; can we just drop Jinx' E range but have them start bouncing after they arm? I have no idea what to do with W. I really can't understand what purpose it serves besides snagging cannon minions while your hypercarry gets bullied, or checking if people are afk. Jinx W feels like I just wasted time and mana I could've spent on Fishbones.
Speaking of skillshots that are more about your opponents lacking the skill to dodge than you aiming them, Nami's Q really only makes sense as a follow-up to someone else's CC. Her heal is a waste of mana unless it bounces at least once, and Tidecaller's Blessing is so... limited for a damage buff. Rakan's existence is a slap in the face to Nami.
Do you have a way to consistently apply grievous wounds from range? Gear checks are for MMOs.
Is changing her Shroud to Stealth a rework? Ignite and Towers. That's all I ask.
Not that it will ever happen, he sells too many skins, but Teemo actually only has two spells. He can blind people, and drop mushrooms. That's it. Running faster for a bit and an AP-scaling on-hit DoT aren't spells. Riot won't rework him, because his E is training wheels for anyone too lazy to use the practice tool to last hit. Kennen is a better version of Teemo in every way except revenue generated, change my mind.
I'm not even going to try to explain this better than ArcSecond. Look him up. Vmhe gives a very eloquent and articulate description of what's wrong with Diana and how to fix it.

Has needed a complete rework from season 1 onwards. the Q eats to much of his power budget and creates some of the most annoying feast or famine moments in the game. As a support player I feel that you need hard counter him with your pick or you run the possibility of a loss off 1 lucky Q regardless of the players personal skill or what he has contributed during the match.
; thematically he's pretty bad.. he's a giant scorpion, but literally nothing about him is even relatable to a scorpion. He looks like one thats it, but his passive is more lore based and handicaps him, his Q is just an aoe shockwave, his W is a shield which kinda fits a scorpion with their exoskeleton but not really, his E is just a projectile that they at least animated a sting to stun, but the sting just procs the effect rather then does a poison or anything of its own, and his ult is just his identity as a whole, its the only reason you play skarner.
He needs an update badly. Outdated kit, outdated visuals, his whole playstyle is to literally cause players mental stress to win, overall this is something that needs flesh out from the ground up for more interactivity.

; first champion that comes to mind when I think of giving a new make over in character and kit is always this. Thematic mess that doesn't really make sense unless you look so far deep into the lore that it kinda makes sense? yea idk.. I just can't grasp death embodiment being two entities as one and reaping people on the rift as well as being literally always there when you die.. like if you get hit by a car is kindred driving the fucking car? Or is it "oh look wolf.. this man died, should we kill him twice just to be sure and test his spirit that doesn't matter at this point too?"
; maybe touch her abilities, but really though I mainly just think she needs a VO update. Some might want her kit changed I personally don't care.
; everything.

(full VGU -> WW style) I disagree here with Reav3`s opinion. He mentioned that it´s good to have simple champions around and that Yi is fine. I agree with him that it´s good to have simple champions around but that doesn´t mean it´s fine when those lack meaningful counterplay. Currently Yi offers no other counterplay than "do something against him while he is weak early", "cc chain him". "focus him first" and "don´t get into a 1vs1 against him".
He needs a WW like VGU, he stays simple while getting better/more counterplay.

- he was a mistake to make, riot needs to correct it. He's weird. I don't think a jungle support was a great idea. He's practically unplayed. His passive has issues. Basically riot should delete him, refund everyone who got him, and try to do the best "not maokai" treant idea they can.
- I hate this thing. Burn it like the weeb bait it is and rework it. Seriously, there are a lot of reworks where I don't like bits and pieces of, but this one I hated everything about. I don't like the new look. I don't like the new lore. I don't like her gameplay now. I don't like the charm. I don't like that she isn't hybrid anymore. Throw it in the garbage, set it on fire, and rework Evelynn from scratch. I'm even willing to give up the yearly Ryze rework to make this happen.
