Can bard build like a healer/shielder and still be useful? (How-to-bard thread)

Here was a build I used in hexakill that, while it nearly broke my fingers with how many actives and whatnot I had to deal with, and timing it and all, it was the most fun I had as a support.

item 3401 item 2045 item 3504 item 3190 item 3222 item 3117 I used item 3096 to farm up a lot of gold just by harassing as well as spamming Shrines at turrets. Depending on comp, items were changed to item 3069 item 3050. Windspeaker's keystone, typical support masteries, 45% CDR, and all that.

In actuality, this build is probably REALLY bad on SR and I enjoy Bard BWWWWOOOONG too much to keep picking my go-to supports AlistarBlitzcrank Thresh (bard is hard and most people don't know how to synergize with bard mmk)
