Honor system screwing me over?

So I've been playing a lot with my girlfriend and we duo normal games quite often. I fairly often get 3+ honors every other game and my gf barely gets one every dozen. That's not the weird thing.

I get over 10-15 honors a day but haven't reached lvl 3 in the honor system but my girlfriend already got lvl 3? I even have friends who are confused as to how they get level 4 while playing one game everyday.
