Can Champion Mastery please be better?

This has been bothering me. The Mastery of your champ shows how long you having been playing said champ so not only people can understand "hey, this guys has a level 5 mastery on this champ so we have to be careful since they know how to use them effectively", but also cuz you get a nifty little icon when you press a button.

There are 2 ways to get points towards your mastery level, you either win or lose. That simple. If you win (as long as it is not a 20 min surrender by the opponent) you get 1000+ for your champ. But if you lose, you get hardly anything. And this is where my problem lies.

My problem with this whole mastery thing is how little people get for losing. Obviously if you win you should get more than the opponent, that is not my issue. My issue is when you lose but you are able to push out the match for so long and do well with your champ and you end up getting piddly shit of 200 or so points. That to me is a slap in the face. I had a match last night that had it not been for our top laner tryn yolo diving just cuz he had his ult, we could have won in the end. We were able to push out the match to almost an hour and i sat on base defense clearing wave after wave of minions and supers cuz i was the only one who had fast enough wave clear and high enough damage to keep it clean. That allowed me to gain item advantages to the point where the enemy actually got afraid of me and they couldnt even 2v1 me and i was playing as Lucian.

But despite pushing the game to 54 minutes and gaining a dragon and me personally going 15/6/11, we lost the game (again because the tryn just fed) and i look at the champ mastery points just to find that, as usual, i only get around 200 points for losing while the other team gets between 1500-2000 points for their win. Why is this system so shitty? I am a completionist and love having the mastery levels cuz to me its a challenge that i want to complete. But what is the point if i bust my ass and do all this work and despite losing in the end, only get such a pathetic amount of points for my trouble even though my personal performance was that well? Hell, I even had the most damage dealt in the lobby at over 500,000 and the closest one to me was the tryn at over 300,000. I out performed some people in the lobby and still get shit for points?

Dont get me wrong, i dont think i should get as many points they did because they won and we didnt, but still think if a player and team is able to hold off and push the game out that far and put up that damn good of a fight, they SHOULD get something better than just a few measly points toward their champs mastery level. If anything, its a slap in the face to the player saying "we dont care how well you did, you only get table scraps so screw you" and it give NO incentive to stay in the match. In fact it gives MORE incentive to surrender than it does to try to win. I know the win points should be incentive to win but you reach a point where you know you are going to lose but you should at least get something better for it.

I think that if you win the awarded points should range from 1000 and above and if you lose it should be 1000 and below based on your personal performance. That to me is more fair and a better reason not to surrender when you know you have already lost. But this current system gives me no incentive to not hit that surrender button because i am not going to sit here and bust my ass for a shitty amount of points.

Edit: And just to show what the match was like, this is a link to said match and you will see what im talking about:

You put an extra 0 behind the damage to champs.

Sir Pheonix,

I agree with you bro and I understand your frustration, since this is "champion mastery" and not "can you carry the trolls with your champion mastery."

From Riots own FAQ

It’s based on the champion and role that you just played in a game. So, for example, we look at Annie mid differently to Annie support. We take a series of performance metrics and compare how you do to all other players in your region in your champion / position combination. It is percentile driven - so earning a high score means you performed in the top x% of players on that champ in that position. The grade itself governs the point gains.

Just because you lose the game doesn't change how well you did VS the percentile.

I can see them giving us a win bonus of say + 200 but their should not be a 1000 mastery difference between someone who played a S game and lost vs someone who played a C or B game and won.

Meaning to tell me my 20/2/20 game where they backdoor'd and won should give me less points than their 0/18/4 jungle?

The system is too biased to the winners.
