ARAM Infair Balancing

Since the last patch as of October 24, 2015, I have noticed that a lot of the matches are extremely unfair. I am not saying this to sound petty, or childish, or even to sound like a new player. Technically I am, but that doesn't excuse this issue.

So example. Tell me if this lineup is at all fair in anyway.

Ashe Blitzcrank Garen Sion Malphite vs Katarina Kindred Lissandra Teemo Corki

Just looking at this match up, you can see the issues. Yes, any match up can beat any other match up, for the most part. But this is a consistent issue within the game, especially in ARAM. Majorly in ARAM. 4 tanks and a ranged fighter no one can get to, along with Ashe being extremely good with rapid fire and critical galore, but we can't touch her. Here is the link to the match ending set up. Ending Score / Stats. I mean I know the matches are supposed to be balanced, but getting 5-6 games in ARAM almost consecutively that are highly one sided gets a bit old. Some of the games are fun, and hard earned, as it should be, but when you have matches like stated above that are heavily one sided, that is just unfair.

Also, as well I do understand the champions are based on what you own, and what is free, that should still be something that the computer says "Alright, these guys have all these, and these guys have all of those. Let's run the stats and make a nice even match." And if ARAM is supposed to be a challenge, then that is understandable, however it should be a challenge in that the teams are nearly even and they have to outsmart the other team. That is what I had come to expect from ARAM. It gives everyone a chance to test out champions they might not normally use, and get comfortable in just about any role.

Not all the games are difficult to lose, and some of the teams earn it properly, but the fact that so many games I had run into today was nearly one sided. Some not as apparent as others, but the range of abilities each side can use are very apparent when seeing the character match up screen.

Anyway, if possible, could you guys at sometime check this out? I understand if people might think ill of me posting this, or whatever the reason, but please understand this is my personal experience with ARAM today. It gets old.

Thanks.

I sympathize with your concerns, but the fact is it's a random game mode. Random can be fun, but it can also sometimes (ok fairly often) result in lopsided matchups (I had one the other day where we just had no hard cc at all on our team apart from a difficult-to-land annivia Q, and the opposing kat just had her way with us).

There are plently of game modes out there that allow you to select your own champions and form a coherent composition. Draft mode is probably best for this, since in blind pick you can still end up counterpicked into a lopsided game.

As you said, any matchup is winnable with enough difference in skill, but if you are looking for a level playing field, ARAM is probably not the best place to search.

Good luck on the Fields of Justice, Summoner.

It's completely randomized. There's no code for fairness and no way to judge fairness. 4 tanks and one adc means they lack a lot of damage and you just have to reach Ashe, which can easily be done with Katarina and Lissandra. You also have Kindred and Corki for tank shred.

There's no way to balance like ups. I've had people wreck Aram as ziggs and lux and people that sucked incredibly hard. It's a per game basis and that's how it's meant to be. There's no way to "balance" it.

As others have stated, all random is in fact all random and sometimes you just have to deal with the hand you were dealt. That being said, it's exceedingly rare, from my experience, to get dealt a matchup where you don't have any win conditions. In the match you posted you would have needed to push your advantage early while the tanks were relatively weak. But im guessing you had lots of players eating blitz hooks and it let them snowball really fast and proceed directly to running right at you. At this point, you will have an uphill battle, but your team did itself no favors with your builds.

I haven't played Kindred yet so I can't speak authoritatively on their build, but when the game ended you had literally built no damage. Same with corki, the shiv rush in ARAM is something I've seen too many ADCs do and it makes no sense. For Corki though, he completely bypassed his triforce powerspike which did you no favors in pushing your early game poke advantage. Against a high health team not a single BotRK was built. No armor shred/pen was built. You had a heavy AP team against a tank line with no MR . You had plenty of slows from Liss, who didnt need the crystal scepter. You guys could have potentially kited out the fights, shredding the tank line all along and then let liss and kat get into the backline to burst out ashe and do cleanup duty. Not to mention kindred ult giving you the chance to keep them from bursting down anyone while you're trying to get the tanks down.

While I can certainly see how overwhelming the sion and malphite hard engage could be, there were tools available to you as composition that you didn't take advantage of. So while sometime an aram comp seems overwhelming, their will usually be something your team can do. The challenge is identifying your points of power and win conditions, and then playing to them.
