It's harder to rank up this season.

I was plat 2 last season and all my friends who were plat are now gold. My diamond friends are now plat.

It seems as though it must be harder to rank up this season. Just a thought I had because I am barely moving in gold.

I only have 1 question: How large is your premade. Because that directly correlates with your win rate, for this season.

Poske8/8/2016, 9:29:55 PM9 votes

You are doing it wrong. Just abuse the DynamicQ Boosting system

Vekkna8/8/2016, 9:45:36 PM8 votes

New champ select means you're more likely to face role mains. DQ means you're more likely to face coordinated groups of role mains.

It's definitely harder to climb as a solo this season. I asked Ghostcrawler that question a while back, and he said he would look into it. Nothing but crickets when I've followed up on that post.

Games appear to be tougher in general as the new draft has made the game more specialized. E.g. A mid main isn't playing support anymore in 10% of their games due to being fill last pick like in the old system (not using real numbers).

Teslyn8/8/2016, 9:19:35 PM3 votes

its the meta.. if you keep doing the same thing season after season.. you will move up or down based on what is the idea for riot to make as the strategy

Articality8/8/2016, 11:48:22 PM3 votes

Dynamic queue kinda messed up the system so this is to be expected. Some people are gonna climb faster than before and some will not.

FortisDominus8/8/2016, 11:30:41 PM3 votes

I mained rengar and rumble previous seasons and they were much stronger back then (tier 1 or higher). This season they have gotten considerably weaker (they have dropped to tier 2 or even 3) so im finding it difficult to rank up. I might just start going with meta picks instead. rumble at this beginning of this season was tier 3 now hes tear 2 and borderline tier 1. Rengar is tier 2 and borderline tier 3 after the bola changes and all those nerfs.

I dont know man... I ranked up easily this season. Last season i ended in low plat, and I am diamond already. While my friends are trying to climb up to gold im playing Skyrim all day long.

I "refreshed" my account and wound up in Bronze. Now I've gotten out of Bronze four times before but I have struggled this season to get into Silver. Seems like the game provides for less comebacks than it used to and teams are able to snowball games once they get an advantage much harder than last season.

I really wish turrets were stronger, I can dive people at level 5 with little issue.

TheEvilQueen1358/8/2016, 9:21:55 PM2 votes

i've been struggling to get past s4 this season. for some reason i get to s4 and i get teammates that don't want to communicate or work as a team :( i really need to get better at carry roles #supportlife

I actually think it is harder or easier depending on the type of player you are and this is because of the introduction of role selection. This is not taking into account number of known teammates effecting your chance of winning.

  1. If you are the type of player that can play 2 roles very well, but you are not too good at the other roles, you probably are having an easier time climbing than the previous season.

  2. If you are the type of player that can play ALL the roles well, but you do not specialize in any role, you probably are having a harder time ranking up.

Prior the introduction of dynamic queue, pick order designated the roles of players in ranked games. Many players were not very good at all the roles, but those that were, could move up in rank because they could adequately play all the roles if needed.

Players that were only good in specific roles had a harder time moving up if they were given a role they were not used to playing. They were basically playing their "non-main."

The ability to pick the role one feels comfortable with, has given players that were only good at one or two roles the ability to "safely" go into ranked games and get one of their main roles.

This also means, that players that were more "balanced" in their level of play lost a bit of their advantage as a player. Their versatility and lack of specialization means they are probably at a disadvantage in most games. If they play against a mid main only or a top main only in a game that player is probably more familiar with the role than they are, and perhaps their champion (if they are a one trick pony).

So the balanced and more versatile players have a tougher matchup, which could lead to more losses.

So all those players that were top or mid mains only, that probably CANNOT support or jungle or play other roles at all, is not losing the games they would lose due to simply getting a role they play poorly.

My friends that could only play a couple roles really well are a bit higher on the ladder than my friend that could play all the roles well.

One of my friends who got to Diamond 5 last season actually expressed this too me recently. He is stuck in platinum and he thinks its because he was a pretty balanced player that could play ALL the roles well. Now he is trying to learn a couple roles in order to climb more effectively.

Skill doesn't matter this season, its all about how many people you boost with, and if you don't boost its just about how many boosters are on your team vs the enemy's.

GayFluffyUnicorn8/9/2016, 11:53:22 AM2 votes

Well thanks to DQ and riots easy policy on boosting in general it gets harder at around high plat-low diamond. this is where the boosted trash sits and i'm sick of it. It is nearly impossible to get into diamond. Every game is pure lottery on who gets the boosted monkeys. When u take 4 towers and 2 inhibs on your own and the enemy sends 3-4 people top and bot 4 times to stop you which gives your team minimum 30 seconds to do something and they don't and just stay around mid afraid to 4v2 at a 15% health tower u know something is wrong. Or you get those 48% winrate people "i'm master on my other account". I just gave up on climbing rank. It perfectly evens out, after a winstreak u get a losing streak or win/lose/win/lose. Pure lottery and if riot isn't starting to fix that shit and demote every boosted shit already this game is dead ranked wise. Don't want my games decided by pure luck and watching teammates having NO idea what to do. Sometimes it feels like watching Trick2Gs bronze plubwars. So either get yourself a 3+ stack to diamond or just stop playing. You won't get into diamond this season. Too many factors ruining the game. I have no issue with losing against a btter teamcomp or higher skilled enemy. But this clownfiesta i have to face every fuckin day is just unbearable. But as you can see riot doesn'tgive a fuck anymore. Months ago again after the roundtable and nothing happened. There are still people q against tier higher or lower teammates/enemies. Boosted shits stay boosted and ruin games. DQ is still a mess. Q times are outrageous for the amount of player available.

OnlyGragasOnlyGG8/9/2016, 2:59:04 PM1 votes

I disagree, somehow this season was easy for me. Your own doings still play a big role and therefore better players goes up in rank. I haven't abused DQ since I mostly just duo and you could already do that in SQ. Select a main role and champion, get good with it and you will do fairly well.

lofi n chillhop8/8/2016, 11:53:46 PM1 votes

reality check: it's harder to rank up in gold, then it is to rank up in silver. I got out of bronze in my first month of ranked play. out of silver in my first half year. I've been playing a year since, and I've been out of gold a few times, and only now feel comfortable in gold. I'd be very pleased and surprised if I got out of gold before this year was over tbh.

Bondage Bunnyboy8/9/2016, 3:03:30 AM1 votes

I have had an entirely different experience as a Support main, it's much easier to rank up. :l I peaked at D2 this season as opposed to floating around D5-low D3 previous seasons.

TeeTohr8/9/2016, 2:59:47 PM1 votes

People are still so mad about the dynamic queue ? LoL i climbed from gold 5 to plat 1 in solo/duo, you just have to be good on one role and you climb. But yeah if you think that you just need to be 10/0 to climb... You're wrong

atomicwit8/9/2016, 7:51:37 AM1 votes

It's ok, ranked is meaningless this season anyway. Who cares about rank when someone can just get 4 friends on a smurf to boost them to whatever division 5 they like (which is hard to fall from)? Sad thing is, it's not even against any rule.

Seenan8/9/2016, 5:45:31 PM1 votes

It doesn't help that a chunk of the players in plat or diamond (maybe not a chunk, but an amount) are boosted animals.

Randomonium8/9/2016, 12:01:15 PM1 votes

A lot of masters and challenger players aren't playing on their mains because of the queue times so that means you have masters and challenger players running around in diamond. This forces some diamond players into plat, some plat players into gold, etc.

GvlXXybHZj8/8/2016, 9:53:42 PM1 votes

These are all good responses. I had a friend of mine who was an adc main last season switch to being jungle main this season. He said the meta is harder for adc mains. I think riot wants to shake things up.

DREADN0UGHT8/8/2016, 9:50:23 PM1 votes

I got from Gold to Plat.

I think it might have to do with the meta.

I can't climb since they nerfed my 2 main champions. I'm sad.

LatetotheRace8/8/2016, 8:42:41 PM1 votes

I went from silver to plat. In all reality it's because I never played anything past silver V cause low effort borders. Turns out I've actually been mid platinum all along when I actually try, who would have guessed. I am confused though, as it seems like boosting is extremely prevalent and the player base has actually shifted percentages from bronze-silver to much more concentrated in gold. Platinum and diamond numbers seem to be pretty consistent though, so maybe y'all are just getting replaced.
