What's with matchmaking?

So I recently made it to gold and I am a support main. Ever since being in gold I am still matched with silver 4 and 5s. I'm not trying to say I'm amazing and my team sucks but I'm genuinely curious why I get stuck in these situations. On average I do really well supporting with multiple fight changing plays and saves and usually end with a 4 kda win or lose but it seems like the other team always has the better players. My Mr isn't great but is that because I am always losing? My scores and plays in most games definately don't reflect the people I am matched with in most games. Why is this?

Usually, you will need a decent run to get promoted...a couple wins to hit 100 LP then 3 of 5 to get promoted. A 70+% win rate during that time will usually put you at an inflated MMR for a short while, making the first games after promotion pretty challenging. A streamer I watch hit gold recently then proceeded to drop 8 straight.

MMR swings are MUCH greater than LP swings. On top of that you are protected from dropping for quite a while. If you have been losing, there is a good chance your MMR has dropped to where you are playing with a lot of silver.
