Being Kat vs Viktor, need tips.

So basically I am a pretty decent Kat, my favorite match ups as kat is vs Diana, Fizz, and Annie, because they actually make me strategically think and prove that Kat has no real counters. But then Viktor... I can kill the sob usually at lvl 3 or 4 for fb and can usually keep up or out farm him but shit i spend most my damn gold on health pots because if i didn't he'd out level me. He hits me with one bs laser and I'm hurting and i try to bait his stun before I jump on him to do work but he still fricken hurts if he keeps calm and instead of freaking out decides to be agressive when I'm agressive in stead of running so he cant see me stab him...

Any who he's the one Champion that I've seem to have the hardest time vs in lane. Do you guys have any tips? Like Item build paths, skill build paths, runes, masteries? When to use what skills etc?

I haven't gone against him too often but I handle him mostly the same way I handle most other midlaners - trying to bounce Kat's Q onto him while dodging his stuff, going for a QEW when I know he doesn't have much up to punish me with and then getting back out quickly rather than staying in on him. Try to repeat that until he's low enough that a QEWR will kill him before he can react.

Of course, all this depends on consistently dodging his Q while you try to wear him down (E can help). It's tough to not get pushed out of lane by a good, patient Viktor. Viktors who just go ham on the minions with their laser are pretty easy to deal with this way, though.

Kats in a weak spot right now Victor usually doesn't get strong til late game. If your getting poked by the Ray I would use your shunpo for dodging. You can always build abyssal scepter first so the Ray doesn't hurt as bad and maybe buy boots as your first item so you can dodge it better too? Another idea people don't do on her but it actually works is buy Dorans shield. The hp and health regen helps you sustain a lot more than folks think

Based on the fact that you don't believe kat has counters in lane, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you're a lot better at Katarina than the people playing their champions across from you. Don't expect the trend to hold as you climb in rank; there are some really, really shitty matchups for kat out there.

That being said, one thing viktor excels at and katarina is weak at is controlling and pushing the wave. A good viktor should clear the waves with enough pressure while staying safe using his ranged attacks that you shouldn't even be able to first blood him at early levels. Really if you're playing kat, in a lot of the matchups you just want to farm enough to get an item and then roam bot and abuse resets. You'll probably lose your tower doing this if they can take it before you accumulate a large advantage.

Other than that, run MS quints (which you probably oughta do almost always on kat) to help dodge lasers and abyssal scepter is a great item.

Im a decent Kat myself... Here's what I'd do.

-work around his cooldowns. He just missed his laser? QEW and back off. He will likely drop his stun on himself, your speed boost from W will get you out before it stuns.

-use his farming as an opportunity to poke

-burn his mana

-be aggressive, make him afraid to come close to poke

-if you know you're safe from jungle, use shunpo to dodge skills and land Q

I'm not even going to bother suggesting you to dodge the laser cus it's like a skillshot that rarely misses. Your dagger bounces (more unfortunate than fortunate) and it's hard to keep up with cs. What I do vs this lane is to not let him pushes me too hard and kind of keep the minions in the middle without getting much poke from him. If you can do this, you won laning phase, but if he's pushing you too hard, call a jungler. Another approach would be try to outpush him and gank elsewhere. I go Abyssal Scepter, then Hourglass and Rylai, then DCap and/or Void Staff. You can also try banshee.

Can't. Kat isn't supposed to win lane. Shes supposed to scrape by with what her opponent will let her take, scavenge kills in roams/ganks, transition into late game hyper carry (of course late game rarely happens this season probably why you are struggling)

Don't get lasered? You have a shunpo up every 12 seconds, his laser is up every 13 seconds (assuming he goes for the Q max Viks usually go for vs assassins)

Honestly Vik is pretty good vs a kat, he has 2 ways of stopping your ult, and a shield to null Q poke.

Just do what most kats do, roam and get kills that way. You can beat Viktor without having to 1v1 him
