Allowing Mordekaiser to proc his shield off the splash damage from Ludens Echo sets him up for a huge health spike that makes it insanely hard for melee champs to zone him away from minions. It creates a situation where you have to take bad trades every time you want to farm minions, and often have to choose between living and allowing Mord to clear your entire wave.
I assume you mean shield spike (which can kind of be taken as a health spike). But that is just how the game works. Other champs can proc it take get more spell vamp, and I bet nasus/veig can gain stacks if the ludens proc kills something else.
But then Morde has to sacrifice tank/health items worth 3,1k gold. While for most melees that's enough to get high damage AND defenses
God forbids you actually have to care about when to engage X champion rather then just botton mashing to win.
what i like to do with luden's is throw it on a minions to walk into their minion wave also when i got ludens you wotn believe how many kills ive gotten when i ult them and i walk around charging luden's making it proc twice it is so fun XD
