For all bronze/low silver players

Hello,

i am currently Silver 2 player and i'm planning on reaching gold soon.I was a bronze 2(later 3) player and i was a noob. But one day i decided to stop and start to improve.Next thing you know,i am Silver II. I am proud of myself for succeeding and i decided to tell all players the way to climb faster.

While i was bronze player,i have seen the way they play and act. They think they are the best and that they deserve better elo. They can get better,ANYONE CAN GET BETTER.They just need to stop blaming others and start to focus on the game.

Here are the most important things you should do when you are in the game:

  1. Play safe.Don't go super aggresive at level 1/2 and give first blood.

  2. Focus on objectives instead of kills. A lot of bronze players just focus kills instead of turrets/dragons.

3.Never rage at your teammates.Stop being toxic and focus on the game.Harrassing your teammates won't help them play better.

4.Focus on yourself.Focus on your own score and mistakes instead of others. If they flame you, just type /ignore all. Problem solved :)

5.Never surrender.I don't understand these players who immediately say "gg open mid" after they give first blood.Never surrender ranked.

6.Play your best champions.

7.Build recommended items. Please build recommended items.

8.This is the most important part in LoL if you want to win. JUST WARD ! I am really sick of seeing those players who don't ward but blame their jungler for getting ganked.

If you follow these instructions that i wrote here i am 100 % sure you will win more games and be happy.

Good luck in the Fields of Justice! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Climbed from B2 to S2, too, and number 6 is 100% true. Starting playing best champion and best role and voila.

Also account for incompetence. An obvious play for you may not be for your team. Like let's say you kill the other teams jungler and adc. Well your lanes are pushing. Pause. Next objective at 30 mins. And 50 sec death timers. ? I pinged the shit out of Baron. But no they force down to seige mid get nothing. Dive a jax... facepalm. They feed a jax. But we still win. Regardless just try to help your imbasillic teamates as a group. Better to do it wrong together than do nothing by yourself. Have faith... but not too much. Also don't tower dive early. Just don't. Too many variables can go wrong... it's bronze.

Hello, my name is TyrekGoldenspear.

Boards: Hello Tyrek.

I was once an unranked newbie without a clue, but I followed advice similar to what the OP is saying, and I watched guides and videos on how to play my champs.

I am now a climbing Silver IV.

The system worked for me, it will work for you.

im currently in silver 5 (although that because i pretty much stopped playing but i was silver 3 last season and i would rank myself between silver 2 and gold 5)

and i 100% agree with the OP, i have been doing all of what he says for a long time. (although i do surrender in unranked games) and doing so is what has let be climb out of bronze 3 seasons in a row.

trust me.. even if you dont play champs that can carry.... even when you DO get horrible teammates. follow this guide. because you may not climb as fast as u would like.. but you WILL climb.

cinomenapplebae8/12/2016, 4:32:08 PM1 votes

what champions did you play, Because currently the best choice for ranked for me is just ap armor stacking tanks, they are easy and can carry hard in teamfights. I like to play Malphite Chogath and sometimes Nasus in ranked and im trying to find some more champions like them

You forgot a point:

Objectives > CS > Kills

No matter what, CS is ALWAYS greater than kills. You can be 2/0, but with 50/60 CS while the enemy player have 120 cs at 10/15 minutes in game. Get kills only when you feel like you can kill the enemy, and always last hit on minions.

Reccomended items are very often horrible...

Ah warding. I am now working jungle more as I have support maimed for awhile. I am not sure of the sightstone on junglers now. I do get vision wards and use my trinket wards whenever possible. No one else does though, saddens me.

Another invaluable skill to set yourself up for success in bronze: Learning How to Defend. When the enemy is already pushing and is either outnumbering you or is stronger, fall back and WAVE CLEAR under the turret (yea that means killing minions not looking for an all in fight that just happens to be near a turret).

  1. It's extremely difficult for them to take it down or kill you. Stop thinking omg they're pushing we have to kill them all or we lose. Your base isn't going to fall in 20seconds
  2. If you have any split push happening on the map, or teammates respawning then you have them right where you want them 3.Noobs overextend all of the time. Some of your enemies are looking to jump in and all in you like you used to do.

Congrats, you've graduated from feeding a kill and tower by fighting 1000 units away from your tower, to a patient punisher of bad positioning.

The thing that annoys me the most and my friend who I duou with sometimes likes to do this is when people just pick a champion that is "strong" and they see in the LCS without knowing how the play them at all, because they think that having that champ=auto win. The thing I think is funniest about this is that the champs that are good in low elo are not at all the ones good in high elo. MasterYi Volibear Blitzcrank Garen ,champs like these, on people who can play them, regularly stomp in low elo even though they suck at high elo.

I've been playing lol for 10month and after all my days spent in enjoying the Game i started ranked .actually i'm bronze 1 and I wish to get to gold. For climbing the best tip is watch the map (that include to get vision) play champions that you know reaaaallly well and that are not too complicated (like zilean😜) and don't sacrifice yourself or play too risky. Wait for the opponent to make mistake.objective are I.portant and don't give up and take breaks

Beoridas8/13/2016, 3:16:45 AM1 votes

As a plat 2 player (and climbing) I will say that these are the very basics to get anywhere. It would require a LOT more than this to ever get good. But at least, you guys wont drop to B5 if you properly do these things AND understand why they are needed. (which you can customize eventually to optimize your play)

Malix Farwin8/13/2016, 3:22:33 AM1 votes

Recommended Build actually sucks for some champions/situations. They usually get the core right most of the time but the rest is iffy.

R FLASH XD8/13/2016, 4:39:37 AM1 votes

One thing I was never doing is splitpushing,Try it, it mostly works.People don't know how to stop it, they try to 5 man gank you and your team just pushes in that time.

TWITCHTV ERONATE8/13/2016, 3:58:00 PM1 votes

i'm sick of players saying warding a bush makes you invulnerable to ganks. warding alone won't do any shit unless you know how to deep ward and watch your minimap very often. you need not only to ward but also control your wave, if you're pushing and a hecarim comes to gank that little ward you put in the bush won't help.

As someone who's climbed from B3 to D2 (previously D1 before decay), I do agree with a lot of what you said. Also congratulations on reaching S2! However, I'd like to add some things on to what you've said/slightly alter some things.

  1. This is extremely true. However, there are certain scenarios where you kind of have to play a bit more aggressive early on in order to deny your opponent's early level 2 or reach your own. Playing too passive sometimes punishes you and allows your opponent to abuse said weakness (main case of this is bot lane's level 2 "powerspike" with certain champions like Leona, Blitzcrank, or mid lane's level 6) and it can be just a simple thing as being one or two creeps behind your enemy.

  2. Nothing else to really be said here, but keep in mind that there are times where you should peel of Dragon/Baron and either back off or fight the enemy team otherwise you'll end up losing a huge team fight due to the damage from the monster + enemy team. This is generally where Baron throws happen and everyone gets a good laugh at it when it happens in LCS.

  3. Nothing to say, good statement all around. Be supportive of your teammates if you can. Some people may just be having a bad day.

  4. ^

  5. Even after hundreds of ranked games, I still don't understand the surrendering early mentality. Death timers are long late game and almost anything can happen. Even if you seem to be losing at the time, always consider that even if it's a small chance, the entire enemy team can dc.

  6. Pick 2 roles and stick with them until you hit gold. This makes it so that you can focus on building two rune pages and understanding those champions even better. If you don't understand a champion, try playing that champion in a normal/bot game during free week to learn their strengths, weaknesses, and even cooldowns. It'll help a lot.

  7. Alright...Recommended items are decent for most champions, however, not all champions follow the cookie cutter builds that Riot gives. Keep in mind - EVERY GAME IS SITUATIONAL. I cannot stress this enough. As an ADC, there are some games where the enemy has a lot of CC or has CC that can punish you heavily. These are games where you want QSS. Games against a team without hard CC/minimal CC, you can get away with just buying a Bloodthirster. If you're against an AP heavy team, Hexdrinker is an amazing item to have. Sometimes building a Randuins can be justified against a heavy AD team. Remember - GA is a good hybrid defensive item, but if you feel that your team cannot aid you even if you revive again, it might be better to just go for more damage or a different defensive item.

As a support, if the enemy AP champion is fed, rush Aegis. Enemy has Ashe/Sona/Lissandra that can pick off your ADC with ult? Get a Mikaels to save your adc. Frozen Heart is a good item, don't get me wrong, but most of the time you're better off getting Randuin's Omen. It gives HP, good amount of Armor, and the active slow is amazing at peeling. Keep in mind, just because you're the support, it doesn't mean you can't go for the more self-defensive items. Once you have your core helper items (be it Locket, Mikaels, Randuins/FH), if you feel that you're getting bursted way too fast, you can build a Spirit Visage, Banshee's Veil, or Randuin's for yourself. A dead support isn't providing anything for the team.

As a tank, if you're against heavy AD, go Randuins/Sunfire/Dead Mans/Thornmail/Ninja Tabi. Heavy AP, go Spirit Visage/Banshee's Veil/Merc Treads. Mixture of both? Assess how the game is going. If the team is primarily AP/has a lot of CC, go with Visage and Merc Treads first, build an armor item for the adc, then go for Banshees or even zz'rot. Vice versa is rather similar. Sunfire/Tabi is good to build early. Randuin's is good mid/late game. Thornmail is good later into the game where you have decent HP to support the item's passive. Warmogs is recommended on a lot of champions. Keep in mind that it's passive does not kick in until you have 3k HP. The amount of people I see building it before then is honestly sad. HP also does not mean much if you don't have defensive stats to back it up. Always keep in mind what you're facing and adjust your build accordingly to who you think will be doing the most damage to you.

I feel that a lot of Mages shouldn't follow the recommended items list purely because of Athene's Unholy Grail. It gives 40 AP now, and while it does give decent mana regen, 20% CDR, and some AP, IT IS NOT WORTH BUYING IT ON SOME CHAMPIONS. You're better off purchasing Morellonomicon if you'd like the Mana/CDR. Abyssal Sceptor is good vs enemy AP champions especially against people like Le Blanc/Katarina who thrive on abusing your low MR. Against someone like Zed and Talon, getting an Seeker's Armguard early is always a good choice. Sometimes you might not even need to finish the Zhonyas, but the extra armor can be the difference between you living and killing your opponent and dying.

I can't quite speak for bruisers/assassin builds since I don't play many of them myself so I have yet to see the recommended item builds for them, but I do assume there are some things on the recommended items list that are out of date.

8 . Finally! Warding is important, but so is knowing WHERE to ward. Sometimes the ward in the bush is not always the best place to put it. Choke points (such as the area near blue buff, the small area outside of the raptor camp, etc.) are generally good places since it gives you more vision than you would obtain otherwise by putting the ward directly into the bush. There are several warding guides out there that can help you out. Always keep your eyes open though. Just because a ward is there doesn't mean that it'll keep the jungler away. Map awareness is key in this game. If you see the enemy jungler somewhere on the map, ping him so that your team knows where he's at so they can play around his positioning. The same can be said with mid laners if they seem to roam a lot.

A couple one final tip: Since Riot has been kind enough to allow us to "ping" timers on spells, make sure you do! This is especially helpful if you have Teleport, Exhaust, Heal, an engage ult (Sona Crescendo, Kennen's Slicing Maelstorm, Hecarim's Onslaught of Shadows, etc.), Globals (Ashe's Crystal Arrow, TF's Destiny), or even more defensive ultimates (Janna's Monsoon, Soraka's Wish, Lissandra's Ice Tomb...thing). This helps your team coordinate a lot better and play around your abilities. Pinging Dragon/Baron timers when it's about 1 minute before spawning can also aid your team in setting up for objectives.

Anyways, sorry for the long post and good luck on the rift~

I like the post hopefully other players read and listen as it is great advice. The one thing I would change with #7 is lookup guides to playing your favorite champions. Although suggested items are better than just picking random items, they don't always include the best items for champions. So my suggestion is to have players look up guides from pros and listen to pros advice. A lot of these guides also have rune/mastery suggestions as well as skill pick order. I follow all of these besides runes since I am lazy and only have a couple standard rune pages haha.

But yea good list and as I said early good luck on your continued grind as I believe you will reach your goal of gold one day soon.

I honestly think the only thing stopping people from climbing is confidence to make a come back. So many games are lost from a FF that you never actually find out if you could've made a difference. I'm sure there's plenty of bronze players that surrender upwards of 3 or 4 games in a row just because they are a couple thousand gold behind against a renekton playing as jax or some other scaling champ
