Why Do Tanks Out Damage Fighter Early/Mid Game But Lose Late Game?

This makes legit 0 sense. A fighter should be able to win a trade against an enemy tank. But alas, the tank soaks up all the damage your combo just made, then counter attacks.

The tank: Loses barely any mana, lost about 10-20% total health, and cooldowns are up in a snap.

The fighter: Already at half mana (depending on fighter), lost about 60% of their health, and cooldowns will be up in 13 seconds.

This makes 0 sense, and whats even more stupid is that tanks get somewhat out damaged by fighters when the tanks should be able to 1v1 them. Everything is backwards, top lane meta is such dogshit i swear.

Which tanks and which fighters

Tanks shouldn't be able to outscale fighters lategame in duels, I don't understand why they should.

Because of Lethality. No matter what the tank builds, Lethality will rip him apart in no time. Riot doesn't like defense, it's "unfun". They're balancing the game so they can blow through more pro matches at a time and reap all that cash.

That's why we got different metas across the time. Fighters will get their turn eventually.

In the early game, champions do similar amounts of damage. An example is how a auto attack from ziggs (without the passive proc) can hit relatively the same amount of damage as his q. Supports early game hit almost as hard as adcs. The reason this changes is because of scaling of stats. As the game goes on, the difference in damage b/t a tank and carry widens. Tanks will generally win earlier, because they have higher base hp--which gives them a much stronger early game since base stats dictate the early game.

Tanks offense is based on high damage bases. They rely on it while not having to buy damage items while buying pure defense items. Late game they try to disrupt and outlast. By that point a dedicated damage dealer can have sustain, anti defense items, and the thing tanks don't have with good auto attacks. If tanks didn't have a somewhat strong early game they would all be forced down into bot lane as supports. There are some tanks that don't really follow this rule that are annoying but you end up having to play around them differently like cho'gath. He tanks by being a threat that has to be dealt with. Most tanks though go the more traditional tank route.
