Varus pointers?

Ok I've been trying to get good with Varus but I just can't get in and out of team fights well enough and my pot shots aren't doing it either, my build is And a final item based on their team. Any opinions?

I like doing sniper varus no matter where i am, my build normally is item 3142 item 3147 item 3812 item 3158 item 3508 item 3031 normally works. You might want to exchange out a few butt it normally works for me.

I am playing him in low elo ranked, its not working out really, I need more mobility or something.

In my opinion, Varus is kinda played like Cait. Stay back and poke as much as possible and try to be in the very back. If you do feel threatened by an assassin or bruiser, Flash out of the way and ult for lock-down. That build is good, but after i played Varus a lot i have found that item 3508 item 3085 item 3031 is his core build. Now Static can be replaced with PD or Cannon (depending on what you need). But with his passive, you gain attack speed for killing a minion, so you dont need a crap ton of attack speed.

My recommended NORMAL build is: item 3508 item 3006 item 3031 item 3085 item 3139 item 3072 This build gives you a lot of life-steal but if you need more attack-speed, crit, or armour pen, you may want to replace BT for either item 3094 or item 3142 . But if you wanna be ballsy, you could even go item 3071 .

Remember that Varus is not just an ADC caster like Ez. He has abilities that increase his damage based off of you AAing your target (W). So stay back and try to get a few safe autos then Q. Then keep doing this but keep in mind your low mobility. So try to have a team with a lot of peel or disengage. He's a very strong ADC when played correctly. Essence Reaver is a good power spike for him and the Hurricane is his second. Then he snowballs from there. Hope i helped a bit

It depends on where you're playing him. It looks like you're playing crit Varus; this is a pretty standard build for that. I would swap out Shiv for RFC, since Varus isn't exactly hurting for waveclear and his autoattack range is fairly low. If you're going mid Varus, you want to drop the crit and go more for armor pen; the build looks more like item 3042 item 3006 item 3142 item 3812 item 3036 item 3085 you can also go for a hybrid; item 3031 item 3094 which replaces boots with the percent speed from your Zeal items and Youmuu's active.

If you're feeling spicy, you can also go for AP Varus, which uses the extremely high AP values on his W and ult to cheese your way to victory. AP Varus builds more or less like Kayle, switching out Rylai's for Runaan's.

looking at probuilds and a few guides they suggest muramana instead of reaver, I could convert this into an entire snipe build instead of a crit build

I am in no means of a varus main, but I like to build armor pen so Items like item 3156 item 3147 or item 3036 tend to be really strong on him, if you mostly use his Q.
