There are Issues with the Matchmaking System if this is not intentional.
A strange thing happened to me when i started to play rankeds for this season. I got placed in silver 5 like a lot of other players but i was happy because it was a new chance to bypass all the boosted players and start to climb. I really focused on improving during preseason and was able to go 8/2 on my placements (both losses could have been prevented if i was better) and go on a winning streak to climb to higher ranks.
But Suddenly, one game before my promo series i got matched with teams who were utterly outskilled by the enemy team. I played with a feeding lane and a lane that was loosing very hard. Two games in a row. Yes, bad luck, maybe. But all the games before have been pretty feed-free for both teams and now they are in my team, two games in a row, when my MMR is probably at it's peak?
I looked the matches up. Well. First of all, there was a unranked player in both of the games in my team. Nothing special right? Both of them had a 0% winrate in their Provosionals and were already matched with bronze (i know it's the new silver) in their games before. No kidding, they really had 0% winrate, well one of them won a single game where he went 1/13 somehow. Why do they suddenly appear in a match with a silver 5 who has a high MMR?
Also, the other players in the enemy team were overall 1-2 divisions up to my teammates and also to me (but i know that my MMR at this point must have been high because my winrate until that point was 85%). Since the season just started it is almost impossible to be in a higher division while having a lower MMR than the division so i litterally got matched with lower ranked players against higher ranked players.
I don't know how the matchmaking system works in specific but the only reason that would make sense to me is that matching a high MMR player with lower MMR players can create a Team that can be matched against a team in which each player has a high MMR that is still lower than the MMR of the high MMR player in the lower team. This would create some issues, maybe a player who has a skill level that is actually WAY better than his current MMR could carry this kind of games but for me, even tought i outskilled the enemy team it was just impossible because the level and objective advantage (items also but not that much because i was also kind of fed) just went so strong that i was unable to do anything, even while being very ahead myself against my lane opponents.
I know that a lot of people will tell me that i just need to improve, well, yes, i'm still not playing perfect, hell, not even diamond 5 players are even near on being perfect but at the moment i'm just very frustrated because i'm afraid of playing rankeds since it is likely that the feed will continue for a loosing streak and i will get stuck in silver 5 mmr-wise even if i don't belong there. But i'm kind of sure that this is not just bad luck, tbh even if the matchmaking got reworked this season i think it is still based on old algorithms and i noticed this problems with feeders who spawn out of the sudden already in the last season.
tl;dr: i'm pretty sure that loosing streaks after winning streaks are more than just bad luck or psychological issues but a result of the way the matchmaking system works.
