Trying to figure out what to play, now that marksmen feel so bad

Silver player here. I've been playing a little bit of everything since season 3. Over the past couple of years, I really started to gravitate towards marksmen. It felt like I was starting to get a much better grasp on the game, both mechanically and macro-wise, during the first part of this season. I was trying to play them as recently as last patch but I just don't want to anymore. [zombie-nunu-bummed] I'd like to lane-swap but don't know what to play. I've been having a lot of fun playing Renekton and Darius top; they're great for the part of me that just wants to manipulate waves, farm, and duel people. I'd be interested to try some other stuff that might fit well too. I've played a lot of champions in different roles (champion mastery is at 489 currently).

Keep playing marksmen and when they get back into the meta climb the ladder to diamond. GG EZ WP 10/10

You should try jungle, though. The other players' attitude toward junglers can be really bad, but the role is fun when you get the hang of it. Also Graves is a jungler now so you can keep marksmaning.

Marksmen have always been OP, together with support. They had always have elevated standards of balance, that's why it was so easy to stomp other lanes with marksmen (despite being meant to be weak and vulnerable in 1v1), and anything that went out from bot lane into majoring in other lanes would have to be nerfed to fit them there; simply put, the characters usually played at bot have been deliberately kept blatantly stronger than intended and above all others, for no reason. The same goes to support.

It's just that they now no longer have that innate, admittedly stupid, advantage.

Other champs have to deal with meta-shift for countless times over the course of 8 years, now is marksmen's first meta-shift in like 7 years (it isn't even a meta-shift, it's an extremely long overdue hotfix). Deal with it.

If you just abandon marksmen and went onto others atm just because it is no longer as mindblowingly strong as it was but instead it's closer to balance than ever before, then you're not a marksmen player nor are you loyal to its concept, you just want to play something OP and marksmen used to fit that deal more than everybody else.
