Everyone has the right to have an opinion, no matter the elo

So stop with things such as "you are a low elo" and other ad hominem fallacies.

For example, let's say that a Bronze V says "Master Yi is OP and must be nerfed". Is his opinion wrong? Yes. Is that because he is a Bronze V? No.

How you would reply to that claim? Would you say "Master Yi is not OP because he is vulnerable to CC and is squishy"? Or would you say "Master Yi is not OP, shut up, you are just a low elo, stop talking about balance"?

Let's also say that this same Bronze V says "Ekko needs to have a mana cost on his ultimate". Is his opinion wrong? No. Would you really disregard that because he is a Bronze V player?

Honestly people that do that make me sick, no matter if someone is Bronze V or Diamond I, attacking the people's elo is NEVER a good argument. If you don't agree with someone's claim, you have the right to do so, as long as you provide reasonal counter arguments to that claim. If you are just saying things such as "you are a low elo, you can't talk about balance" then you are just harassing that player and honestly I would report you to the moderators.

It surprises me to see how much people on this boards are obsessed with balance to that point.

Is his opinion wrong? Yes.

Opinions cannot be wrong or correct.

having a valid logical opinion about balance isn't related to rank, a silver player can have great knowledge about the game jungle paths trade offs and minion wave management but can't apply all that in his games maybe he has slow reflexes maybe he is afraid to screw up and looking bad, there's plenty of reasons

a mechanic knows the ins and outs of a car but doesn't necessarily mean he is a great driver

I don't mean to be condescending, but its just that low elo players are often just not credible.

If I'm writing an opinion paper on my stance on abortion, I'm still going to look for whatever facts, stats, examples and research on the topic that I can find that is credible. I'm not going to listen at what Wikipedia says. I might look at the sources that Wikipedia got their information from (if any), but I'm not going to list Wikipedia as a source itself.

Listen to a bronze player with his own opinions on most topics is like listening to a wiki page with no sources. Yeah sure, it could be right, I might even agree with him. But I'm not going to just take it alone for face value with no further thought behind it because it just isn't credible or I know that he's wrong 100%.

I build item 3155 on Katarina very often. I can't tell you how many times low elo players have questioned it. It's honestly annoying. I often hear things for backing and buying item 1036 item 1036 when I'm building into item 3146 . I'm not going to take the time to type why its good in chat. I just ignore them or mute them. I don't insult them in chat, but I do think it. I don't expect anyone to sit there, and tell them why its good. Sometimes I actually do decide to sit there for 20 seconds, typing why its good. I dont get a positive reply either way.

Is he wrong because he is Bronze? Actually.. yes that is exactly why.

Your example regarding Master Yi proves this. He doesn't have the game knowledge and experience. This leads him to perceive Master Yi as OP. His opinion/belief is literally linked to the fact that he is lower Elo.

I'm not condoning Rank shaming or anything of that sort of course. And of course I wouldn't disregard anyone's opinion based on their Rank alone, like proven by your Ekko example. If he's right, then that's good and I will accept that-

But you can't word your post in this manner. It makes it look too black or white. And that's not quite how it is when it comes to balance discussions and "rank shaming". It's not "oh you're Bronze, then you're wrong". It's more like "you're saying something stupid, and the fact that you are Bronze isn't helping you, if anything it helps show that you just don't have the knowledge or experience to be saying such things". Alot of the time someone says "you are low elo" because they simply don't accept the truth and would rather live in their delusions. Like the Bronze players who truly believe Master Yi is OP.

Also, I'd say its far from real harassment.. damn people are so soft these days. Is it warranted? No. Is it a big deal though? No again.

I get shit on every time one of my posts gets to hot for being a silver 5 scrub. It's really funny and no amount of discussion will convince people that i'm not a blithering retard because i'm in silver 5.

I think it was Apdo, a highly skilled Korean solo queue player, who stated that it is those in lower levels who experiment with off builds. Some of those builds are successful, and pro players pick them up, which then become the meta. I'm not sure about the verifiability of this though, can someone confirm if he said this?
