Anivia Kit Rework (Suggestion/Idea/Whatever else)
I've been playing Anivia since season 2, and lately I've shied away from the game because Anivia isn't that fun for me to play anymore. It just seems like everyones kit is updated and modern but her kit. So I'm making this thread to throw some ideas around since Riot is probably thinking about reworking her anyways. I know what you anivia mains are thinking (She's fine the way she is please don't change her!) I agree that she can be played fine right now if you're a decent anivia player, but she will always be at a disadvantage because it's just been so long since her kit was worked on.
I think Riot created Anivia with the intention of having her as a utility/support type mid laner that would do a lot of damage but also provide a lot of slows/stuns and more or less be what Orianna is. Anivia is really just a nuke. What people do now is farm up a ton til she gets decent items. She can 100-0 targets if she gets her items and lands her stun. It's so satisfying being able to 100-0 someone from a bush, but I don't think her current kit really has a place in LoL. There are better nuke champs that do her job without needing the items she does, and there are better utility support mid laners that do her job better than she does without the items she needs.
My goal: Turn Anivia into the utility mage she was meant to be.
Passive: Same passive (Rebirth) + a new one. While anivias egg passive is up her auto attacks slow and do a bonus % magic damage. (For now let's say 5%/10%/15%/20% scaling at levels 1/6/11/16).
Q: Flash Frost - (First active) Anivia launches an orb of ice in the target direction, dealing magic damage to every enemy it passes through. At maximum range, Flash Frost detonates automatically. I would increase the missile speed from 820 to somewhere around 1200, but I would change the radius of the ice ball to be a bit smaller.
(Second Active) The ball explodes stunning anyone in the blast radius (which would be a tad smaller in this rework) for 1 second. After it explodes there is a large radius (think gangplank ults radius) left over from when the ball exploded. The explosion has left a sheet of ice all over the ground. This sheet of ice grants Frozen Terrain's passive.
The idea behind this is to promote the use of her Q as an AOE teamfighting ability and not a single target nuke. This would be used to stun maybe one person but slow the entire team and speed yours up in a certain area.
W: Crystallize - Crystallize has been completely changed. Instead of a giant wall, anivia now can place little ice crystals all over the map. These crystals grant vision and slowly spread over time. (like creep spread in starcraft) As an enemy you need true vision to see the crystals. These crystals take 3 auto attacks to kill. (like pink wards)
Passive: Frozen Terrain - The ice that anivia spreads grants her teammates 20% movespeed as they walk onto it for 1 second and then it goes down to 10% while walking on it. This ice slows enemies by 20% as they walk onto it for 1 second, but it goes down to slowing them by 5% as they continue to walk on it.
E: Frostbite - (This ability kind of changes how you play Anivia currently. It sort of clashes with the rest of her kit as the rest of her kit promotes aoe utility and this one is more for damaging one person. I've attempted to fix that.)
Anivia launches her E at an enemy and does magic damage. The ice shard breaks off into 2 more pieces and its the 2 nearest targets (prioritizing champions). (Kind of like winter wyvern W from Dota 2)
The initial ice shard slows, and if they are already being affected by frozen terrain (being slowed by walking on ice) then it will stun the target. The 2 following pieces do x1.2 damage as the initial shard but do not slow.
R: Glacial Storm - Right now Glacial storm is used to waveclear and to blow up a target by using e+r. It's also used in team fights, but a lot of the time it is wasted because of the time it rakes to move it from place to place in a fight.
Instead of it being a sort of toggle, it's now a 1 time use ability.
Throw down a glacial storm that slows enemies attack speed and movement speed by 5%/10%/15% and does 200/300/400 magic damage over 6 seconds in a radius (same radius as gangplank ult) Has a 120 second cooldown at all ranks. Your teammates gain 5%/10%/15% attack speed and movement speed while in this radius.
I would also like to change the Glacial Storm visuals to something like a hail storm and less of an on the ground type VFX, so it wouldn't be confusing to dictate the Q ice sheet particles from the R glacial storm particles.
All of these changes + lowering damage and mana costs would make for a really cool utility mage kit.
