I've tried to just roll with it. I've tried pretending like I q'd up for the role I was filled. I don't like losing games because I was given a role that I'm a steaming pile of absolute shit at.

"Position shortages can lead to much higher que times for everyone. You may be assigned a different position to balance out shortages."

This shouldn't matter when I'm playing a game with 100 million active players every month. And the "much higher que time" is usually one MAYBE two minutes longer than the average time. I'm patient enough that I can wait that long. Either remove autofill or give us an option to turn it the fuck off.

Yes I am salty about this.

Player base is completely irrelevant, actually.

100 million players. We'll simplify this to 100. Each team needs 5 positions. So ideally, you have 20 in each position.

The popularity of some roles out shines others, the obvious out-layer being support. So for simplicity, we'll say only 15 players queued for support, 21 in the other positions, and an extra mid (we'll assume this is you).

So now you have a disparity of 6 teams waiting on a support and you waiting on everything. That means you need at least 10 additional players to queue up for you to have a team.

But if we continue applying the support ratio, then that means we only get 1.5 supports per 10 players. To get the 7 supports we need would require about 50 players (7.5 supports).

So by the time you have your full hypothetical team, 40 more players need a support. Assuming they are all evenly distributed among the other roles, your looking at 10 teams where you previously had 7.

So the size of the player base isn't even a factor. It's the bottle-neck effect. Unless there is an even distribution of roles, there will never be enough players. (A theoretic infinite number of players would simultaneously solve and not solve this problem, amusingly.)

Yeah im fucking tired of it too i can mechanically play support but when i get auto filled i just feel like trolling like thats not what i fkin queued to do especially at low elo where support doesn't have much control of the game how does riot expect me to reach gold if they don't allow me to grab the game by the balls. But no fk you were gonna auto fill you and push you over the edge and encourage trolling.
