The problem we're currently seeing in top lane is also a mid lane problem

Soraka are currently being taken to top lane, because of the lane's inability to influence other lanes, and games often being decided before they're in a position to rotate.

This exact problem also occurs with traditional casters in mid lane, with very few exceptions (i.e. Cassiopeia), and it's assassins crowding them out rather than supports: you can only take assassins to mid lane in solo queue and expect to consistently win, full stop.

Traditional casters cannot reliably impact other lanes. If they get caught by a jungle or assassin while navigating to the other lanes, they're dead.

They also provide their opponents with too much counterplay: a Vel'koz can 'catch' his opponent in a bad position where his combo is otherwise unavoidable, but if they Flash it, Vel'koz is now completely fucked. Compare this to assassins who are largely point-and-click. The reliability is not there.

If anything, we need changes to normalize agency over the game across all roles and lanes.

It is well beyond the scope of league (unless they start making a LoL2), but I honestly felt the play/character systems in Bloodline Champions (later remade into Battlerite) and Gigantic (Shut down).

The most notable characteristics being that 1) everybody (including supports) were expected to be viable in a 1v1, 2) everything was a skill shot, 3) everyone had some form of mobility skill (though nature and effectiveness varied greatly).
