[SERIOUS] How do I approach this? Asking well-experienced or high-elo players [D5+]

Let's say that I'm a fed, split-pushing jungler like Master Yi (whether it's via kills or farming), able to 1v1 or possibly 1v2 anyone on the enemy team.

However, my team is unfortunately weak and behind (whether it is losing lane, getting caught, etc.) and comprised only of squishies with poor wave clear and obviously, defense, and we are up against a tankier team (2 fed-ish bruisers, 1 tank for example) who is ahead overall with good amounts of CC and engage potential. Now, let's not get into how I should help lanes get fed early. I'm inquiring about dealing with these circumstances specifically.

That being said, we are pretty fucked 5v5 at that point, and ideally, a fed Master Yi should just split, apply map pressure, and take objectives instead of grouping with "monkeys." The only way we'd be able to even fight or ace as a team would be to maybe fight in the jungle or catch/pick someone off.

Now with these circumstances in play, let's say that I've taken down all tier 2 towers up to this point, it's hitting the 30-35 min. mark, and both team's minion waves have collided at the middle or a bit towards the enemy base on both side lanes. However, the enemy team is grouped as 5 mid and has pushed up all the way to our mid base turret in hopes of opening the gates. Naturally, my team will have backed up and start hovering around mid base tower. I, on the other hand, was just en route to a side lane ... midway through our jungle.

Should I head back and group with my weak/behind team in an attempt to "defend" the gates although we lose horribly 5v5, maybe hoping that the enemy team will fuck up (send 1 in to dive and die or something)? Or should I continue to push my luck by splitting down a side lane in hopes of trading gates, that part of the enemy team will back, that my team will survive/back off, or that the enemy team will not end once my team has died? Or will it not matter and that either choice will lead to an inevitable loss and that I should just gitgudder early game with getting my team fed? What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

Inb4: "Don't play Master Yi. He's garbo."

Truu :( But again, I'm inquiring about how to deal with something like that when encountered.

Well, it depends on the actual champions of your team and enemy team..... But for general purposes.....

It would probably be best to get a wave puahing for a side lane. Make it seem like you are going to be there hard by clearing their wave and sticking for a wave then go back to the fight..... At that point they will likely have thrown all their main stuff at your team if they meet, and you can come behind them and theoretically pick off the enemy ADC, then (if the enemy support is something squishy) the support.... This will, if your team is alive still, allow them to come in and engage to help as well.

This is however extremely situational based on the ACTUAL champions played, and how well the enemy team protects the ADC, and if your team is actually able to survive and help engage after the enemy team engages.

In the situation you described, the best course of action would be to go "full Tryndamere" and split push, while hoping your team can slow the enemy push.

Master Yi is an assassin who excels in 1v1 duels. While split pushing, you force the enemy team to send two people to stop you or they lose inhibitor. This is the true power behind Yi (and Tryndamere). If the enemy team stop pushing, you should join with your team or hide near the lane you were pushing and wait until you know what the enemy team is doing.

Yi is squishy when focused, which means starting teamfight by flanking is a death sentence and thus not recommended in plat+. That is unless you are super fed and can take at least one enemy carry before you die. Teamfighting as Master Yi requires champion knowledge and knowing your own limits. This is due the nature of Yi's ability kit, which lacks instant one shot ability to take down enemy carry.

Like all assassin champions, Master Yi has selfish playstyle. You don't spend time to get your teammates fed, you want to snowball as hard as possible. Yi has the ability to achieve "hyper carry" status with core items. Your game plan is to get gold and items as fast as possible.
