If you D/C can the player be returned back to base or tower?

At least walk back under tower (preferably behind so you dont take minion aggro). I hate when someone D/Cs while in the middle of the lane and their opponent gets a free kill because they are just standing there taking minion damage. Is it too much to ask that on D/C the player walks back to base or under tower to prevent the free kill being just handed over. Now, I know something like this already happens. What I am asking is for when the game announcer says "___" has left the game, their player is already moving back to safety.
