Underused Jungle Keystone
I made a similar post about this previously, but I have been giving it some extra thought.
I feel that Glacial Augment is underused by junglers.
I have a build that I have been thinking about today, and I want to try it out later, but if anyone has, or wants to try this out themselves, feel free to tell me how it goes.
I'm thinking Warwick would make a good pick for this because he is a fairly strong meta jungler currently and his main damage ability, his Q, scales on 90% AP, with a low cooldown.
The Runes I would take are,
Keystone: Glacial Augment - Obviously, .. the main showcase for this build. Warwick already has good ganking potential, but this will just make it better / more reliable.
Tier 1: Magical Footwear - I like this rune because of how cost effective it is. It essentially gives you 420g value boots for free, and the more aggressive you are, earning more takedowns, gives you access to the boots sooner, helping you snowball sooner. Warwick is a very aggressive junger, meaning he has a lot of potential to take advantage of this.
Tier 2: Future's Market - Adding to the early aggression / snowball theme, this rune allows you to obtain small power spikes slightly sooner. The effectiveness of this strategy lays heavily on being able to obtain an item with an active ability that can proc the active portion of Glacial Augment. (I'll talk about that later)
Tier 3: Cosmic Insight - Increasing CDR cap by 5%, also decreasing cooldown on summoner spells by 5%, which is great for junglers, making Smite available more often, As well as the active item cooldown, such as the active item effect that will trigger Glacial Augment.
Second Path - Sorcery - I don't think a lot of people realize that taking Inspiration and Sorcery, or Inspiration and Domination gives the same amount of AD/AP as taking Sorcery and Domination. In this case, you will start with 13.2 AD (I believe WW defaults to AD) and then will swap to +22 AP once you purchase your first AP item.
Slot 1: Transcendence - The items I am planning here will all give CDR. Exceeding the cap will give a good amount of AP.
Slot 2, Option 1: - Water Walking - This rune works really well with Warwick's W, allowing him to put a lot of pressure across the map. .. HOWEVER, it is very situational. .. The bonus movement speed and ability power you gain fall off once you leave the river. I think this is a better early game option, which does fit in well with the intended ability to snowball.
Slot 2, Option 2: Gathering Storm - As Water Walking is the early game option, Gathering Storm is the late game option. This rune gives no early game advantage, but a huge late game advantage that is not situational. If you are able to snowball effectively without Water Walking, this rune will be even better.
Items: Jungle Item - Runic Echoes - Eliminates any mana sustain issues. Warwick already has good health sustain from his passive, so once you complete this item, sustain is not an issue. 10% CDR
Glacial Augment Item - Twin Shadows - I think this active is really good for applying Glacial Augment because it is a fairly fast moving, auto-targeting projectile that targets the two nearest enemy champions, with or without vision. Theoretically, you could use the active without entering the lane and the slow may provide enough of an advantage for your laner to get the kill. It is likely better to still walk into lane before using this active. The slow will let you get into range to close the remaining gap with your Q. This also gives 70 AP, 10% CDR, and 7% movement speed, which is great for Warwick.
Boots - Ionian Boots of Lucidity - CDR is the general theme here. +10% ability and summoner spell CDR.
These are my core items. Beyond this, I would consider situational.
Nashor's Tooth would be a great item to work with Transcendence and Warwick's Ultimate, applying your AP accumulation with on hit damage.
Zhonya's Hourglass would be good against enemies / team compositions who deal a lot of physical or burst damage.
Banshee's Veil is good against teams with magic damage and crowd control.
Hextech GLP-800 gives another active that can be used to apply Glacial Augment. Applying the active portion of Glacial Augment has no cooldown on enemies, meaning you can use it to immediately refresh the slow. This could actually be a good alternative for Twin Shadows.
I think I'm going to end my list of options here, .. there are many different items that could fit into this build.
I also want to point out that this strategy can be applied with an AD build as well. Blade of the Ruined King and Hextech Gunblade can apply the active portion of Glacial Augment.
