Right so, since the new runes came I've been looking up what to use for what champs as I was afraid of choosing my own and eventually being the reason my team loses . So I'm wondering does anyone got some tips for choosing your own runes and not messing it up XD
I feel like the runes are for the most part flexible enough (particularly thanks to stuff being mostly being adaptive) that most reasonable choices are 'good enough' that they're unlikely to be the deciding factor in if you win/lose, in contrast with the old system where if you happened to go in game with a bunch of ad runes on a mage or ap runes on a marksman, you'd probably have a pretty rough time.
Every champion is different and most champions have multiple viable routes. I'm basically a Taric one trick and have used 7 different keystones on him so far.
It just depends on champions. Some champs can abuse runes better than others and other champs would find the same rune useless.
Cheap shot for example imo is garbage on Ahri.
Because the cooldown of it is 4 seconds, and her charm is 12 seconds without any cdr so by the time you even proc it 1 time some other champ could have easily proc it 2-3 times already. Charm is the only movement impairing effect in her kit and it's a single target skillshot that will get blocked by minions so it's even harder to abuse during laning phase. Oh and her charm cost 85 Mana at all ranks so you will just run out of mana for using it 2 times.
