Need some help having these changes explained to me.

Hey, guys! So I've been racking my mind trying to figure out a few things about these PBE patch changes and I would like your help explaining them to me.

First off, I know the vast majority of changes are going to go through regardless of what the players say and I'm okay with that. Riot makes some great changes despite resistance from the community and vice versa, so I'm very excited out the changes once they hit Live. Also, when reading my questions! Don't assume I'm a hater through the way I ask my questions, I'm genuine in the way I ask them and they should be taken at face value. I'm not offering any criticism, I just want to understand Riot's perspective on the issue. Now on to them!

Why have these game-altering changes in the first place? This is something I've been the most confused about. I would love someone to help me understand without using some of the buzzwords of the business world, i.e., diversity, specifically of gameplay. I personally never felt that the Marksmen champs were the same, although I admit my lack of knowledge of the ADC role. So just some context on that would be great!

Are the goals of these changes to further the destruction of 'metas' in the game? I know the dream of the Balance Team is to have all the champions at a good spot in the game so people just do not pick the one that is most overpowered.

I forget the rest that plagued me. If I remember I'll post them in an edit later! Thanks in advance for reading and responding.

  1. The game must change simply as a result of how it's built. For example, we're sure to see new champions every year that offer something the League will have never seen before. Old champions will get outdated and need to be reworked or have their core build and power flow reworked through the use of Item changes. With this logic, because change is mandatory to the game, it's not hard to understand that sometimes the creator of the game (Riot) would push big changes at once to start anew when they get the opportunities, such as during the pre-season, when the season literally starts anew.

  2. I suspect it had to do the most with that ADCs are the most stat-checked based champions in the game. Riot was exceedingly explicit when they brought up that they didn't like stat check based fighters like Shyvana and Mundo (and prompting the phrase "wet noodle fight top lane) so it makes sense that they'd eventually get to the long range class dedicated to nothing but beating other people through raw numbers.
