Ending games faster and improving as jungler

Hi guys, When I play in ranked, I'm struggling to finish games quickly, for example, I'd be snowballing with a 7/0 KD at 15 mins but i would take close to 30 minutes to finish my games. I'd like to finish my games faster as I often make bad decisions and throw in teamfights and lose the games.

Somethings I've been working on:

  • Keeping track of enemy jg and counterjungling
  • Counter itemization

Things I'm struggling with:

  • Lategame splitpushing/teamfighting
  • Vision Control
  • Taking baron/drags/towers

I'd like some tips on how to force baron or snowball when you're ahead, or how to set up vision control around objectives, how to effectively splitpush (I only splitpush if I have vision on 4 enemies, but struggling to get a tower and don't know what to do if someone comes to defend).

Thank you!

30 minutes is about average for NA silver ranked games.

Proper decision making is mostly about two things: how do the champions in the game interact in various situations and how long does it take for things to happen. The latter is easier to learn in a way that will take less relearning as you climb up ranks. For instance, after games where baron is killed watch the replay. See how long it takes to kill it, with which champions + items + dragons and at what game time (baron somewhat scales up over time). Also see how far members of the team not starting baron took to come over if they did and how far they travelled starting when they begin moving towards the pit.

Taking notes on these things (and actually take notes) will help estimate how long is needed to rush baron down and how long it will take the enemy to arrive to contest it. Baron is the corner stone of closing games quickly. The biggest "macro" I noticed between mid silver and mid gold is people are somewhat more willing to do baron.

Beyond this, bot inhib is the most important to destroy if it will still be down when baron spawns. Top inhib is important to have down when elder or infernal drag spawns. Mid inhib is the least important unless it enable your team to end the game directly5. If the free pressure from super minions is not useful, destroying inhibs is bad as your team is down one lane of farm for the duration. To be clear, I am talking about the inhibs, not the inhib turrets. The turrets are always good to destroy if practical.

Note: "macro" does not really exist when people dont play properly. Which makes climbing through learning it difficult as you keep needing to relearn as people play differently as you climb.

Lategame:

You play Yi and Jax mostly so by 30 mins you should be incredibly strong in a 1v1. To splitpush simply go the lane opposite side of the map to your team and whack away at minions. You will probably wanna fast push to destroy a tower before the enemy can react. Proguides on youtube also have a load of guides for minion management if you have the time.

Teamfighting as a strong solo champion can be tricky as it relies somewhat on the enemy being uncoordinated. Simply identify the main threats to you and try to eliminate them.

Vision control:

Always try to have a pink ward on the map in an area you plan to play around.

Picking up item 3364 early on also can help loads if your support is actively warding.

Taking objectives: Easiest way is simply to take out enough enemies they cant fight your team at all.

You can try to sneak them if you have vision contr but mostly its just a team thing.

To snowball from early you need to be constantly denying the enemy and turn the game into a 4v5.

A game I recently played, I invaded the enemy fiddle and forced them to B at level 2 (Went red to raptors to enemy wolves) Then I recalled and went to his red, where I was able to catch him ahain and ki him. I then took his entire red side jg and headed back top side.

He was nearly 4 levels behind at one point and there was no threat to my lanes from ganks while I was free to gank anywhere

Sounds like typical KDA player instead of going for objectives which win you the game.

0:00-7:00: Farm, deny farm, engage only when favorable. Hard push before you back. Hard push when the enemy backs. 7:00-12:00: Farm, deny farm, engage only when favorable, look for Dragon and/or Rift Herald. Jungler should look for a gank on Mid or Bot lane if you're going from Dragon, Mid or Top if going for Rift Herald. Always set up vision before going Dragon / Rift Herald. 12:00-20:00: Farm, deny farm, force turrets down by rotating if they aren't down already. The goal is to have all 3 outer turrets down before 20:00 minutes, and to always have someone to catch the farm in each lane before it crashes into the turret. If you're the only one who understands this then you're the one who goes and does it. 20:00+ (Baron up or almost up): Prep Baron side with vision in river and enemy jungle, clear enemy vision. Push all lanes and group at Baron. If enemy comes to contest and you're stronger, fight them, if not, back off. 20:00+ (Baron down, you have buff or no one has buff but you're stronger): Push all lanes, ward enemy jungle, and group in one to force down turrets. Clear all outer turrets before attempting inner turrets UNLESS you get a very favorable fight and you believe you can take the inhibitor too. 20:00+ (Baron down, enemy has buff, or no one has buff but you're weaker): Ward your jungle, split 1:3:1 and soak up the farm (freeze if you can), back away from fights unless you're near a turret. (Treat Elder Dragon the same as Baron when it's available).

Even if you have mediocre mechanical skills and you're playing a simple champion, with limited mechanical outplays, doing the above will win you enough games in Silver and even Gold to progress.
