should marksmen be looked at again?
we've been seeing them slowly being phased out of mandatory status and while i think this is definitely good, it might be a good opportunity to review the marksman class again, as well as the crit mechanic in general
I think that we need both individual changes and new itemization that supports marksman who want to contribute early or mid game. currently every ADC has a strong late game even when they are meant to be lane bullies -- this has made a lot of those champs huge problems in the past or present since they can get a lead and they'll keep that lead. it also makes marksmen kind of inflexible since they too easily blend with each other, and it usually just ends up being who can right click better, even after the ADC update.
the biggest problem is that basically every ADC except for Ashe and Sivir is just a damage pump. low utility and loaded with steroids that have gotten more and more ridiculous lately (Headshot's four-way scaling), the same issue they've had with melee carries prior to yasuo. also that they've continually lost any build variety they've had in the past; you are required to rush 2, maybe even 3, crit items with no exception if you want to be useful as soon as possible
IMO some items that offer ADCs a way to contribute besides damage, and making them less reliant on crit scaling to contribute sooner but not scale quite as hard, would be better for everyone. Every other class can give up some stats in exchange for a little more utility; i think it's time marksmen had the same options
tl;dr strong late game should be on an individual basis and not universal, more diverse items to support early game ADCs, and utility items for people who want to play less selfishly
